View Full Version : Carmelo Anthony Will Consider Bulls, Rockets, and Mavs

Per Marc Stein:

The Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks are all teams Anthony would consider starting July 1, sources say, if the 30-year-old decides to become a free agent this summer.

Chicago or Dallas would be good landing spots, they both have coaches who might be able to get melo to try on defence.

It's a mistake for him not to go to the Hawks. They're his best opportunity to win.

He'd be getting doubled teamed and raped by the Heat yearly. He's going to Chicago though.

Melo has played much improved defense this year, you would know that if you watched a game.

Since they have the best combination of talent, coaching, having a system that fits his game, and being in the East.

Bulls aren't going anywhere even with Melo and a hobbled D Rose. There's just not enough firepower on the team to take out the Heat.

If Melo doesn't come to Golden State, I hope he goes to Chicago so atleast there's a 2nd contender or very good team out East. We don't need another very good team out West if he goes to Dallas :lol

Him on the Bulls is literally no different than him on the Knicks. Going to the Hawks however, they have much more offensive fire power and a system that meshes with his game.

Dude give it up, you really think hell want to play in a top 3 (Chicago being 1) in attendance arena to a bottom 3?! Bulls play with a lot of heart compared to the weak minded current knicks team. There's a reason why the Bulls finished 4 in the east compared to the knicks who didn't even make playoffs.

But I do give you props for being one of the few hawks fans and not jumping the bandwagon like most on here

I don't think it would work, tbh.

Harden and Melo both love having the ball in their hands. If one of them doesn't get their touches, who knows what will happen in the locker room :confusedshrug:

Rockets? Lol

Melo is a perfect fit for the Bulls but IMO depending what's up with rose and if the cheap fkn owners would pay for a bench.
Mavs would be awesome..

And as if any decent FA would sign with the hawks. I'm sick of reading all these hawks scenarios. ITS NOT HAPPENING EVER

He fits better in Dallas for that very reason, although they have Dirk and Monta.

Honestly he should go to the Bulls where Thibs can construct a defensive minded team around him while forcing him to pull his weight on D.

If a championship is truly the most important thing to him then he needs to go to Chicago.

Big 3 of Rose, Melo and Noah.

I really hope Rose gets back to his old form but... that's a big IF. That "big 3" could end up looking more like a big 1.5.

How are the bulls built for championship??

Thibs runs his guys into te ground during reg season, owners are too cheap to pay for a bench and they will meet the heat in the playoffs..

Doesn't scream success. Plus rose is a massive question mark.

Id go with Dallas. Dirk monta Vince plus Cuban doesn't mind spending

Rockets need a 4 who plays defense.

In the WC alone you have:

Davis
lee
Randolph
Dirk
Duncan
ibaka
favors
griffin
Aldridge

And the rockets have NOBODY that can defend them. A defensive 4 is needed most before we go out and get more offense.

Harden shoots 16 shots per game
Melo shoots 16 shots per game
Dwight shoots 14 shots per game

Thats about what they did last season anyway.

C: Gortat or Asik
PF: Dirk
SF: Melo
SG: Monta
PG: Calderon

would be pretty intriguing (idk how they could afford it), especially if Melo and Dirk can get comfortable with one another (Dirk did play with Finley and Josh Howard, among others). I hope Melo picks the Mavs. Having said that, they'd be seriously lacking the basketball acumen that the seasoned J Kidd, Marion, Chandler, and Terry brought to the table in 11. Hell maybe they could even get Chandler back. Either way it'll all come down to defense. Not sure if Melo helps in that area

Melo is an above average post defender, obviously if he plays someone over 6'11 he's in trouble, but he is a great defender in the post.

Word. I'm sure Melo's defense is underrated in some parts, and you know Carlisle would use him at the 4 every now and then. I guess just not feeling the hypothetical defensive impact of a 36 year old Dirk, current Melo and Monta Ellis. But it's still worth trying for, dont get me wrong. Offensively they could be a wrecking crew if they played their cards right and Dirk is healthy. And the complexion of the league is constantly changing (Duncan, KG almost out, etc). Harden and Melo on the other hand, idk, seems like they'd clash down the line.

We have two players who are former all-stars:

Player B:
14 ppg 3 rpg 6 apg

If you think he is going to a team to get paid less than the other pseudo star players you're delusional.
