PG: Gary Payton
SG: Michael Jordan
SF: Scottie Pippen
PF: Ben Wallace
C: Kevin Garnett
Pippen is interchangeable with Lebron and Jordan is with Michael Cooper.
*at their best playing 100% defense*
Wasnt sure about KG at center, could have gone with Hakeem and then KG at PF but I really like Ben Wallace at PF, bit of a smaller, quicker line-up.
Whats your 5?

Duncan is better defensively at C
I still rate KG better on D at the center position than Timmy. Ben Wallace is the perfect PF defender.

I would go with a very tall and quick GOAT defensively starting 5:
C Russell
PF Hakeem
SF Garnett
SG Pippen
PG Jordan
Good luck scoring on that

Personally I take Cooper over Moncrief 1st team due to size. But as a specialist I would take Bowen over either of them. Bowen could very well be the perfect creation to stop the shooting guard position. No DPOY was being not recognized as a specialist being overlooked by more complete players

You might as well have two defensive Centers.
The SF can pretty do what you'd expect the prototypical defensive PF to do (ala KG). Sure, the PF gives you better rim protection, but it doesn't compare to what Robinson, Hakeem, Duncan can do inside.

Because Payton can move laterally with the likes of AI, Tim Hardaway, Kevin Johnson.. and all those other laterally quick players that Pippen couldn't

You're kidding about Mutombo right? mutombo literally changes the game purely on being intimidating in front of the rim. Watch the 2000 ASG and why Brown traded half his bigs for Mutombo. He's my choices for the best defensive specialist center of all-time

Garnett is a scrawny bltch, he was abused by larger men all the time. Putting him on these lists is ridiculous, especially at center or PF

Bobby Jones wasn't just a great defender, he was a clutch defender. The number of times he made a key steal or block late in games is the stuff of legend in Philly.

they're about the same at the rim, but can Duncan guard wing players like Garnett? and how about saving games with the steal?

Garnett isn't as good of a rim protector as Duncan. I've never seen anyone make that claim. :facepalm

Scottie Pippen
Michael Jordan

Kevin Garnet
Ben Wallace
I do believe the glass would be covered.
Maybe the occasional super fast small guard gets past Pip and MJ on the perimeter but the wall inside should be able to close in fast enough to protect the rim. (main reason I chose Garnet over Duncan, his quickness and mobility for a second layer of defense)
Offensively they would have some weaknesses, but I doubt anyone puts up more than 70 points on them, so between Pip (15-20) MJ (30-35) and KG (17-25) that should be enough scoring to win 95% of games. Ben and Rodman would get 10-15 ppg on offensive rebounds and putbacks alone.

Garnett spent a lot of time defending away from the paint in his prime, so his shot blocking numbers are a bit low and make him look worse of a rim protector than he actually is.
these questions still remain unanswered...

Of course Garnett is the better perimeter defender, and I'm not even saying Duncan is the better overall defender (the two are almost inseparable) , but to assert Garnett is as good of an interior defender is insane. Garnett would literally be better than him at all facets of defense, which, again, is absurd. Duncan was a better post defender, better shot blocker, better at rotating, and he filled up a lot more space (ie could single handedly guard the paint).
Garnett is a very good interior defender, but he's not on Duncan's level.
