View Full Version : Did the SA Spurs just destroy Lebron James' NBA legacy?

Sorry, but as a guy who is shooting for all time goat, San Antonio just put the nail in the coffin in those aspirations. Let's not forget the only reason why he picked up a chip last season was because of a absolute choke job by Ginobili and the Spurs and a great clutch shot by Allen.

The Spurs are killing him and his team and he hasn't even been the best player on the court. Kawhi Leonard has been pimping him out for cigs in the yard for most of this series... the kid is the finals MVP so far.

Sorry to all the Lebron stans, but even y'all can't deny that this is a HUGE blow to his legacy.

not to LBJ worshipers. To NBA fans it was shit already. Any "best in the game" player who has to leave his team and go play with a finals MVP who has already won it all without him to finally get a ring is clearly NOT " best in the game"

LOL no not at all :oldlol: Kobe wouldnt even be in the finals right now if you replaced him with lebron. Anyways, 4 mvps which will turn into 5 once he goes back to cleveland to play with irving, embiid, and waiters and wins 1 or more rings. Lebron is going to be 2nd goat, no questions asked.

Lebron ruined it by teaming up with Wade and Bosh, instead of leading his own team.

Could've hampered it greatly last year if Leonard or Ginobili make one FT between them or someone on the Spurs grabs one defensive rebound. He'd be staring 1-for-5 in the Finals in the face right now.

Says Jackass Steve who has delusions of grandeur and thinks he speaks for the masses.

I've been watching basketball since the late 80's. If you honestly think what has happened in this series hasn't severely hurt the legacy of Lebron James, then you are delusional. :facepalm

imagine if pop didn't take Duncan out last year because he was afraid of Bosh... u know the guy that scored 0 points in game seven and that never ever made a 3pt gamewiner in a relevant game in the playoffs.

Those who try to make that comparison never watched Jordan. LBJ does not have Jordan's heart. Period.

If that's true, than his circus act with moving from town to town and trying to pair himself up with other star players will not work in his favor regarding public opinion of being the greatest (especially from purist who believe the best player doesn't have to resort to being a journeyman).. Players of his caliber don't and shouldn't have to move. If he actually moves back to Cleveland the NBA public will just remember him as a hired gun who would ride off out of town when things started getting tough.

He's been clearly the best player on a team that made the Finals 4 years in a row and won 2 (maybe 3). He's also been at worst the 2nd best player in the NBA over that stretch. He also has several years of high level play left. I think Lebron's legacy will be just fine. People seem to underrate how difficult it is for a team to win a championship.

If he ends up gong 2/5 in the Finals his legacy will take a huge hit, no way around it. He was on his way to a guaranteed spot in the Top 10 with 3 rings/3 FMVPs. Now looks like he will be in the 9-12 spot, in the Oscar/Moses/Hakeem tier.

Can't be above Jordan, Kareem, Magic, Russell, Bird, Wilt, Duncan, Shaq, Kobe. Hakeem has an argument over him too. Now obviously his career isn't over, he can still win more rings. But after this series 2/5 in the Finals isn't a GOAT quality resume.

When did Lebron start playing tennis? You make it sound like he is fully in control of whether or not he wins titles. Or any other single player in the history of the NBA.

so now you wanna discount his 3 finals losses ? and not just losses .. dismantled in all of them pretty much .. it's not like he went down fighting .. he's getting bitchslapped .. it's a team game, but goat players don't get owned like this in championships .. they just don't let that shit happen ..

putting lebron in any discussion with jordan at this point is a fkn insult to jordan

What you just typed is what it'll read in the stat books, but those that actually watched during that time/era.. do we just ignore how god awful the Easteran Conference was during that time and how much of a cake walk it was to get to those finals or how this spurs team choked? Not to mention that this "best player got going when the going was tough and looked towards greener pastures on other teams" when other greats in other eras never did.

Sorry, but to claim you were the best team in the east, hasn't been much to brag about the last couple of years... and that is getting exposed this year. I look towards the day where the NBA seats playoff teams strictly by 1-16

Depending on the cycle, steroids make you retain water like hell.

Love this thread btw. So much truth in it its scary. The Decision is a debacle that will only haunt LeBorn if it only nets two rings. FFS, Kobe got that many at 30-32 years of age with Gasol and Odom. Poor returns for a superteam that had aspirations of winning 5+ titles.

I will laugh my ass off if Melo somehow winds up in Miami next year. What would that do to LeBron's legacy?

It should definitely be considered. It won't be because in 15 years people don't remember any teams that lost in the Conference Finals (with a few exceptions) but it should. The Heat did have an easier road than teams like the Spurs and OKC had. But they still got it done on their side of the board with a couple titles.

James has one of the greatest skillsets ever but he wrecked his own reputation long time ago by disrespecting the game with unmanly flopping:

In most cases, it's true. But Lebron literally lost it for the Heat in 2011. I'll even give him a pass for 2007 (in which he played like shit too), but if he even played like 80% of what he was capable of in 2011, Dirk would still be ringless.

The only way he would have a hope in hell of winning people over is if he went back to Cleveland, and with the team theyre building theyd be better off to avoid his stat padding hogging ass...
