The only coach currently in the league who is head and shoulders at Pop's level, maybe even better. Took the Spurs to 7 games with half an old Dirk and some average role players.

a good reason why Melo should go to the Mavs. Carlisle can get this team in the right direction with Melo.

Only thing i fear is monta ellis and melo in the same team? :wtf:

I like Rick Carlisle too, but that's not how you use that phrase.

he is one of the best coaches in the NBA but it was Dirk and his heart and desire that took the Spurs 7 games to dispense with. Dirk and Russell Westbrook were the two most awesome all-heart players the Spurs faced this post season. Mad respect to them both.

Carlisle is a phenomenal coach and IMO as good as Pop, they are probably the only two coaches on the 'elite' tier from what Ive seen of the guys out there at this time. Still tho, no coach wins titles without a significant level of talent on the roster.

Someone get that man a true #1 option, he deserves it...Dirk is a terrific player and an all-time great, and Monta is a stud, but neither of those guys are #1 caliber players right now. One more weapon and they're in that top tier.

Or not even a star offensive player, even just a good defensive big/rim protector would've done it. Interior defense killed them, and they still took SA to 7. If they had Asik in the paint to go with Dirk, they might've been legit championship contenders.

To be fair the Spurs took a while to get in playoff mode against the Mavs. That and VC's 3 were the reason it went 7. Carlisle was incredible though, he's going to be the best coach when Pop retires.

Right now ...

1. Pop
2. Carlisle
3. Thibodeau
4. Rivers

You're an idiot. Dirk was absolutely a #1 option last season, a top 5 player and Monta was a great 2nd option.

All the Mavs need is a Center and young athletic 3

you call him an idiot and you Didnt even get his post... Yes dirk was great this year, yes he was the first option, but he is old. did they win a ring? did they get out of the first round? No. if the mavs had that one more piece they could have won it all, or if dirk was 5 years younger they could have beat the spurs no one said anything bad about dirk

He said Dirk is no longer a 1st option, which is wrong. He still has another two seasons where he will remain a top 5-8 player in the NBA.

Carlisle is the undisputed 2nd best coach in the league.

Rivers is 3rd.

Thibodeau is 4th

Despite how badly Miami is getting outplayed this series, Spoelstra is still top 5 however.

Rivers is a gawd awful coach. He gets some serious AA on this board.

He said true first option which isnt the same as saying not a first option. Dirk can still get buckets with the best of them though id love to have him as the first option for my bulls

He's certainly a true first option. Honestly he's still probably the best true first option in the league even at age 35--don't believe me, just ask the Spurs.

He probably has 1-2 more seasons in which he can sustain this level, after which it will be tough for him to adjust to being a 2nd option as he doesn't possess the skillset of one.

I think people overreacted lmao. Spurs were clearly toying with their opponents, the the weaklings like the Mavs could not turn them on, they played with little to no passion until game 7. If they play again and Spurs take the series seriously, it will be a 4-games sweep.
