Starting next season with the Seattle Supersonics. You get one retired HOFer, or soon to be, when they came into the league. Then you can place any other retired players (starting at whatever age) not assured of going into the Hall around them.

My starting lineup:

PG Mark Price (age 24)
SG Sidney Moncrief (24)
SF Dale Ellis (26)
PF Chris Webber (25)
C Lew Alcinder (22)

Kareem was great when he entered the league. You have two excellent shooters in Price and Ellis, combined with an elite perimeter defender in Moncrief, who was long and athletic. Webber and Kareem would dominate inside and provide great passing from the posts.

Pg - Tim Hardaway
Sg - Michael Jordan
Sf - Glen Rice
Pf - Shawn Kemp
C - Ben Wallace

Elite 3pt shooting with Hardaway and Rice.

Elite defense with four time DPOY Ben Wallace in the paint, grabbing double digit rebounds every game.

Great squad but...

Moncrief is way overdue a spot in the HoF, disgraceful looking at some people already in, he's definitely a HoF'er in my book, I think he'll definitely make it at some point.

Webber most likely makes the HoF.

I would go with something like:

Terry Porter 1991
Dale Ellis 1989
Kawhi Leonard 2014
Dan Roundfield 1980
Shaquille O'Neal (20 years old)

Rookie Shaq was already a really good player, athletic freak too.
Peak Ellis was a really good scorer, great off-ball, good in the post and inside, tall and quick, really quick jumper, shooting lights out in many ways, over 50% from the field and almost 48% from 3 on more than 4 attempts.
Roundfield would be a top3 DPOY candidate, if the award was already given, in 1980. Also a really good rebounder that could score, had a solid jumper too. Very physical, athletic, hustled and was really versatile on D.
Porter could pass, score and shoot.
Leonard is young but already good with plenty of potential. Really good athlete and defender, can shoot the 3 ball, rebound and even provide some scoring.
...
Got size, got height and length, even got lots of athleticism, plenty of scoring options, got just great shooting, guys that can post-up, create and take advantage of mismatches, got off-ball play, also some nice passing and unselfishness, got some really good/great defenders, guys that can play the passing lanes, and some big inside presence with shotblocking.

8-peat? I don't know about that lol, maybe when Shaq hit his peak, if the others were still balling/in their prime.

Edit: Oh, no current players?

Kareem would decimate any front court in today's league now add CW to complement him sheeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiitttttttt!!!!!!

There you go, one HOFer with four guys not a lock for the HOF.

Yeah, because then dudes would be putting up squads with Durant, Lebron, Kobe, Garnett and shit.

Thing is we have no idea how Kwai's career will turn out to be. But alright, one current player not guaranteed to be in the Hall.

Amended, you can have one not a lock for the Hall. Hell, if you want your HOFer to be Kobe or Lebron, go for it. The idea though was to construct a team to compete with existing teams. So if you pick Lebron, then you don't have to worry about Miami, or wherever he ends up next season. But whatever.

This is a great lineup. Could they legit do it starting in 2014 (assuming they start off young enough)?

I think I'd rather have Kevin Johnson than Mark Price. Not sure about Rice over Ellis, though.

Isn't there an outside chance Kevin Johnson makes the HOF though?
Even better chance for Chris Webber, and you could argue Sidney Moncrief.
