Duncan was already better than Kobe. How did winning another title make him worse?

Kobe was never better than Duncan. This just furthers the gap between them. While Kobe was recruiting every all star available to help him win (yet still couldn't get past round 1), Duncan was leading his team to back to back Finals appearances with the same core he had 10 years ago. That right there is the difference between the two in a nutshell.

wait what?

duncan 5 championships in 3 decades
3 fmvp
2mvp

Kobe 2 championships
2 fmvp
1 mvp

p.s. shaqs rings don't count as Kobe's. Kobe has an asterisk on all those championships.

see lebron haters i can play the same game as you.

Duncan is clearly greater than Kobe... accolades, impact-wise and whatever else you want to look at.

Oh wait, kobe has him beat on 'cultural impact' :lol

For most non-retards, both were already better than Kobe.

Lettuce be real, Duncan was the best for 1 title (03, 99 = Robinson, 05 = Manute, 07 = Parker).

Kobe was the best peremiter defender in the league in the 3 peat, the greatest closer ever and a willing passer. In the second run he was averaging like 30 on 65% FG. Duncan was carried.

The thing is, put them on the same basketball court, at their best, exclude all their accomplishments, and the best player on the court is Lebron James.

Duncan>Kobe>Bron in terms of all time standings though.

Duncan has certainly achieved the most (combination of team & individual accomplishments), Kobe an lebron are neck and neck, due to one having superior team and the other superior individual achievements.

RAPM('97 to '14) says otherwise:

+5.63 - Lebron
+5.09 - Duncan
+5.08 - Shaq
+2.96 - Kobe

Not even in the same stratosphere as the LBJ, TD, and Shaq. Those three are the best post-Jordan era players.

- Kobe is better at losing games, despite playing with peak Shaq/Gasol/Odom/Bynum/Howard/Phil Jax

- Kobe is better at losing to Nash/Dirk

Playoffs Series

Nash 2 - Kobe 1

Dirk 1 - Kobe 0

----------------

Duncan 7 - Nash 1

Duncan 4 - Dirk 2

- Kobe is better at throwing his teammates under the bus.

- old man Kobe is better at ruining Lakers' chances to contend for a title ...

So lemme get this straight. In 2005 when TD led the team in WS, WS/48, PER, etc Manu was the best player on the team? What about a season where a certain big brother to Marc Gasol led the Lakers in WS, Post season WS, Finals WS?

In a season where TD had a PER of 27.0 he had a better teammate? Or are you saying that going 21/14/2/2 in the Finals against the Pistons front line Manu should have gotten FMVP? I need to know which idiotic statement you are making.

Because if, with a PER of 27.0, you are saying TD wasn't the best player on the team you are a dolt. And surely Kobe, who never had a PER above 24.1 in a Championship season, would... Well whatever. I'm not going to spend any more time on this idiotic conversation.

Let's look at Lebron's achievements Please take a moment to admire the great LeBron for the special talent he is. It never gets old looking at the King's history. So many accomplishments Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan will never achieve:

1. Bronze 2006
2. Bronze 2004
3. NBA finals sweep 2007
4. Go entire Finals scoring 20 pts only one time
5. Quit on his team the year after he promises a championship
6. Dunked on by a highschool kid and then confiscate tape
7. Bail on the dunk contest 9 times
8. Only able to win a ring with 2 superstars
9. 7th best player in NBA finals series.
10. Average 1.8 pts in the 4th quarter of NBA finals.
11. Lose not 1, not 2, but 3 times in the Finals.
12. Host a national televised TV show to leave his team
13. Play on the same team as his moms boyfriend
14. Go 2 for 18 in an NBA playoff game.
15. Get stuffed by a player under 6 feet (Nate Robinson)
16. Flop every single game in the playoffs
17. Choke 4 out of 5 finals games by dropping FG% by 18
18. Vow revenge for 2007 sweep, then proceed to choke again

2012 Bosh missed almost two full series.
2013 Wade was a joke against SAS

Superstars?? Nah...

7th best player in NBA finals series.

I assume you are talking about 2011 when he deferred to DWade and went 18/7/7 on .541TS%. Take your pick on what advanced metric you want to use, he was 3rd best player in the series. Game score, PER, WS, whatever. It was awful to see him defer and I still have no explanation for his tentative play but he was an outstanding Robin still.

Kobe in 2004 was arguably the best player the Pistons had. And was at best the 6th best player in the series.

Go 2 for 18 in an NBA playoff game.

Kobe has had 9 playoff games he shot 25% or worse. LeBron has 5. Kobe has 71 reg season games at 25% or worse. Thats an entire SEASON. LeBron has 16. You seriously want to play this game??
