My title explains it all folkz.... Yes he won his 5th title  (which is really 4 titles) but by being not tha man again this year hurts his place in rankings of being in tha all time greats list. I would of put Tim Duncan in my top 7 if he was tha main guy for this years title but he obviously wasn't. He was like tha 4th best player which put him in below 10 for me. Where do you have this old guy at on your all time list?

Doesn't really change a whole lot either way, same as last year. He's a Top 10 player of all-time, and has been for quite a while. Been past it for quite a while too.

Second leading scorer, leading rebounder and shot blocker. Leading in PER and Win Shares.

Fourth best player though.

How does winning a another title make him go down? Better to lose In the first round? OP clearly an idiot.

He stayed. He never gave up. He earned his titles on his terms on his teams. He never pussied out like some scumbag child crawling off to a team who already won titles with a player who was already finals MVP in an attempt to circumvent work and time all so he could claim credit when that team wins again. No, you are right. He just wasn't K"UNT enough to be like LBJ.

By this logic, Kobe hurt his ranking by winning 3 rings with Shaq

Who expects a 38 year old to be the "main guy" on a team? He made his impact and worked with what he had, he's given his body to the Spurs for 4 titles beforehand, I think it's ok to let his team mates do a little bit more of the heavy lifting. This team doesn't win without Duncan, they may not even have made the finals, a title is a title. 5 for 6 over 3 different decades is a f*cking ridiculous accomplishment.

I don't have a GOAT list, but his Finals last year and this year definitely helps him out.

Flashback.

It's been such a ride to see this guy play for so long and watch all his title runs. 3 decades, man... time passes by, but something never change.

That is up to the league to review as for how Duncan only has 4 titles.

Beyond that, you make absolutely no sense, unless you are hiding some sort of secret.

38 year old led the 2014 Spurs in MP,TRB,DRB,ORB,BLK,PER,etc ...

Can't expect him to do something like this, at his age.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T26NVReq-Tc/U56MsDBvZEI/AAAAAAAAC-E/1Bq3IkxeNxg/s1600/12.jpg

- Since 1980, only Michael Jordan has a better career as #1 (Jordan 6 titles vs Duncan 4 titles)

- So, Jordan / Russell / Wilt / Kareem / Duncan.

- Needless to say, Kobe was a complementary player during Shaq's tenure ... The Big Diesel led the Lakers in PTS,ORB,DRB,TRB,BLK,PER,etc.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RIq6bm5bQr0/U56QO05LuaI/AAAAAAAAC-Q/eM6SAQRzts0/s1600/13.jpg

- funnily enough, Duncan has been Michael Jordan's biggest ally... Duncan won the title after destroying the Shaq-Kobe Lakers in 1999 and 2003 and defeated LeBron in the NBA Finals in 2007 and 2014.

Imagine the NBA without Duncan ... Shaq/ LeBron / Kobe would be considered greater than Jordan.

btw, do you realize that Kareem averaged 14/5 in 1988 ???

OP is wrong. Winning titles adds to your legacy no matter what. Plus Duncan could have been FMVP this year

Duncan was a damn role player on this championship team. A good one, but a role player.

And the first championship he won was in a lock out shortened season, the worst pro basketball I've ever seen played. Faced a #8 seed Knicks team, sans Ewing and it was an actual competition.

Duncan has 4 rings. 1/2 a ring for 1999, and 1/2 for 2014. In terms of his individual resume, and legacy.

yes, Lebron's ranking when up because he had "great stats" but Duncan went down because he's the 2-4th best player on a winning team. :facepalm

How does winning the ring make one go down in rankings? :confusedshrug:

He is solidly in Top9, just bellow Shaq.

You make it sound like Duncan was Robert parish on the 97' Bulls.

Duncan put up 15 and 10 a game and was the defensive anchor.

What role is that, to be the defensive anchor and second leading scorer?

God I hope all these nerds
" stats"..."Fg%" "lets turn Basketball into Baseball!"...winning doesn't matter......Per and stats..yay!!! fall off a cliff somewhere.

Duncan prolly could have easily scored 20+ PPG this series.....and prolly got FMVP...but he didn't....because he passed to open teammates who were playing well and making shots.

He sacrificed personal glory for the team....

Dat leadership.
