Newly-minted Hall of Famer Oscar Schmidt chose Bird to present him at the induction ceremonies Sunday, then proceeded to call him the greatest basketball player ever.

"It's too easy to have Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant as an idol. The guy flies around and does whatever he wants. It's too easy," Schmidt said. "My guy (Bird) doesn't run, doesn't jump and played the best of everybody else. This is my idol, the best player ever in my opinion."

"Any shot is a good shot."

Lol the ultimate chucker mentality (but he got it in).

:oldlol: :oldlol: :oldlol:

He practiced shooting 10 hours a day though. Fantastic. Only thing was his defense wasn't that good. But he said "some peoples job is to shoot, others is to defend," or something to that effect lol

10 hours? I need to shoot around more...last 7 times I did it was only for 2, 1, 2, 2, 4, 1, 1

.....Took me nearly a week to match a day for him

lol priorities. it was important for him to be able to represent brazil in basketball. he wouldn't be allowed to if he was in the NBA, which, for all its great players, was not a national club.

I remembered wrong. Just looked it up it was just 8.

I really like that quote and he has a good point there.

While I know Jordan to be GOAT, a lot of that has to do with his athleticism and big hands.

Bird was the best non-athletic player in the game hands down. On a level playing field with no athleticism(huge hypothetical), Bird would be GOAT.

Bird did more with less.

Larry Bird is Clearly the Smartest B-Ball Player Ever. Also Right There With Jordan as 2 Players With Highest Will To Win and Clutchness. Bill Russell, Big 0 and Magic Where The Next Smartest B-Ball Players Ever. IMO
