Will Kyrie Irving ever be as good as point guard as Tony Parker?

If not, then why should he get paid more?

Tony Parker is overrated, but probably not.

In any case he can elevate his game to max levels in my opinion. He just isnt there yet.

The Hawks could have drafted Tony Parker and did draft Boris Diaw (and traded him away).

Oops.

He has the ability to be better than Parker simply because of his ball handling skills and his quality jumper, the problem is that he needs the right system. Playing ISO ball isn't going to get him to that level.

Kyrie Irving do have a chance to be as good. His potential is high but he has to start winning. If he can involve his teamates more he cna be something serious

His offensive talent is already really good. All get needs to do is shoot more consistently, become more of a playmaker and he needs to improve his defense. I think within a couple years after improvement, he'll be better than Parker.

I doubt he reaches the level of greatness Tony Parker has.

keep in mind he's won 4 rings, has a finals MVP and is arguably one of the greatest European players ever.

doesn't matter what type of system is in place if the kid refuses to play within a system.

He can get there but he has a lot of growing up to do. He just needs to start moving the ball on a consistent basis. He needs to stop worrying about scoring and start worrying about PG skills and running an offense.

I agree, that's part of the problem. He needs to buy into the system. So if the Cavs do indeed hire Blatt, he needs to give in and worry about playing team basketball.

Could have drafted Andre Iguodala or Luol Deng but took Josh Childress instead.
Drafted Pau Gasol but traded him away (although the biggest mistake in that draft was Washington taking Kwame Brown over Pau Gasol).
Passed on drafting Tony Parker.
Drafted Boris Diaw and traded him away.

Why do people assume that you can put just about anyone in the right system and have them fit in just fine?

Put Irving in the Spurs and what you might get is someone who still makes every play an iso one because that's all he knows and understands.
Or he might be great at it but in either case we don't know until it happens.

tony parker is one of the greatest finishers to play PG ever. Probably the greatest finisher ever at his size. Won the starting job on a contender at age 19.
Kyrie has more flash and a better 3 point shot. That's it

He needs the right system and has to buy into it. ISO ball doesn't work for the type of player he is. He needs to realize that.

ISO ball works for Kyrie, it just doesn't work for the team. He's an undersized shooting guard that happens to play the 1 spot.

He needs to grow up himself. Doesn't matter if the Cavs hire Coach Pop or Vinny Del Negro. He'll never get it unless he start maturing on the floor. He's matured off the court, i'll give him that, and he really has improved on the court, but he's not consistent yet. He's taken baby steps in the defense and floor general department and we all want him to take leaps.

I have very mixed feelings on Kyrie. Part of me thinks he's a spoiled pouty chucker and will always be one, other part of me thinks he will mature and develop his game into a real PG.
