This thread is for mentioning players who have given big performances over one "instance" and then didn't do much else. This "instance" could be a single game, series, season (or at max, a few seasons), dunk/skills/3pt contest, etc.

I would like to start with Tony Delk's 53 pt game. This guy was streaky, but this was ridiculous. He made 0 threes, too.

Willie Burton scored 50+ in one game during the 1996-97 season. I am not even sure if he averaged more than 9PPG that season. Then he faded back to obscurity.

Oliver Miller during his rookie season played well then from there (already hefty) regressed back to his norm but conversely he went from hefty to "DAMN!"

Wasn't that against Houston? I think *I* could score 20pts against the likes of Harden and Parsons.

Brandon Jennings lmaoIs he really a one-hit wonder? I know he will never score 50+ again in his career or even 45+, but the dude is pretty solid and had close to an all-star caliber year in 11-12.

Bonzi Wells in the first round against the Spurs (06)

23 ppg / 12 rpg / 1 apg / .61 FG% / 6 games

Almost earned him a fat contract that offseason, but he squandered it.

Yeah you're right. Shooting a career 39% FG% is pretty solid.

I see a common pattern. They all seem to play with a ball dominant cancer that doesn't allow young players to develop their game.

In his first 10 games as a pro, DaJuan Wagoner had games of:

29 points / 5 assists
28 points / 2 assists
25 points / 10 assists
29 points / 4 assists
18 points / 7 assists
33 points / 2 assists

All of those... in his first TEN games as a 19-year-old rookie. Problem was, it wasn't long before teams began to figure out that he had no left hand. Once that memo went out, his FG% began plummeting. Then, injuries mounted.

There was a time, however, that DaJuan Wagoner looked like one of the best young guards in the NBA. It didn't last long, but it happened.

Nice mention. He did drop off the face of the earth after extreme hype.

Jeremy Lin is definitely a good example of one-hit over a longer period of time. It made it that much more hopeful and disappointing at the same time.

Yes, but he went from incredible prospect to potential bust before the health problems began to plague him. He was fun to watch, though. I think he had 100 points in a HS game.

Shot the lights out that year. His defense was shit, though, but then again... so were the rest of the Raptors that season.

OT: A friend of mine has his jersey that year too.

Good post. I had no clue he lived up to the hype for that extremely short window in time.

And that 100pt game was an impetus behind the developed hype. I recall some pro's (I believe Shaq was one of them) actually made the travel during off days to watch the kid play. Such a thing had never happened prior or since...
