View Full Version : Dwight Howard begins recruiting Melo/Lebron
It. Is. Happening.
Report: Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless discuss Dwight Howard, Rockets plans to add another max player and the rumors that LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony are potential targets.'

Skip: If Im a betting man, Im betting that Houston lands either Lebron, or Melo.
Oh, and NO STATE INCOME TAX (for Melo) which would save him 11% of his salary. Florida has no state income tax either.

Just how mentally weak are these guys that they try to find situations were there are two other top 10-15 players on a single team?
They don't have the heart and mental toughness to try to beat their top challengers in the world, they want to take the easy route like LeBron did four years ago.
These guys are gutless.

I don't see LeBron leaving the East. The West is just a meat grinder right now. An injury to just one key player, and you might not even make it out of the first round. In the east, LeBron can practically carry a team through the first two rounds almost by himself.
Nah. He'll stay in the east where he can keep takin' them cakewalks to the Finals.

These guys are gutless. Not sure if they're "trying to find" these situations. But obviously you would want to put yourself in the best situation to win whether it be a superstar or the 15th man. Basically, what im trying to say is thay I dont think anyone in the nba is going to sign with a trash team so they can try and claw their way to a championship only to never win again. That would be a great story for fans to hear but personally these players arent going to choose THAT over what could potentially be a dynasty..... duh.

I don't think Dwight realizes how much his numbers + touches will drop playing with these guys. He'll be regulated to what he didn't wanna be in LA. Rebounder, Paint Defender , Garbage bucket scorer.
He never stop with the contradictions. "I don't wanna play pick and roll"

*goes to Team with a Ball dominant SG who can't defend*I think Dwight didn't like the "i eat first" comments from Kobe (along with a lot of other things Kobe said). It was easily apparent that Dwight didn't feel like rebounding and putting effort on defense that year on the Lakers.

Dwight already said he'd sacrifice touches.
I don't think Melo goes to Houston. Is he divorcing his wife? Is Harden becoming a defensive player? Dwight is recruiting? That's reassuring, you'd think he could **** up anything.
I think Houston winds up with a good player for their FA money, I don't see either Melo or Lebron thought.

Oh you didn't know?
He wanted to go to Houston so he could take 14 shots per game instead of 13
And losing in the first round with Pau, that wasnt enough help to avoid the sweep.
He wanted to team up with a first team all nba player so he could extend his playoff visit to 6 games instead of 4
Why do Rocket fans think they can keep Parsons if Melo signs? You'd need to renounce Parson, remove Lin and Asik.

Are we all just supposed to believe Harden is going to sacrifice being the ball dominant guy for the team just because he did so in OKC? He could have shown that this year with talent on the team and didn't. Houston's offense consisted of Harden playing hot potato with guys until one took a three or he drove in to get a foul.
The team might look good on paper but I don't see this working if it goes down and I'm not sure why Lebron would even think about doing this. Melo? Maybe. If you're Lebron though, this was a first round exit team last year in a tough competitive Western conference. He'd be better off going to Cleveland again in a weaker conference where he's almost guaranteed at least second round. Sorry Rockets fans but I don't see this happening but if you get Melo, more power to you in figuring out how he and Harden will share the ball.

Well, you don't have to go to such extremes that you go to a super team that already has a couple of top 10 players on it or you go to a cellar dweller… There is some in between ground there.
But hey, if you're the type of fan that enjoys gutless superstars, then more power to you. Jordan doesn't join Bird or Magic. Wilt doesn't decide to play with Russell.
Maybe Lebron can join the Clippers to have three top ten players on the same team in their prime. If you take that route, or one similar to it, then it says a lot about his lack of mental toughness.

They can't comprehend how slighted Parsons is feeling right now, he was supposed to be their guy at the three , first they don't pick up his option and now their is rumblings of them chasing Bron AND Melo? That guy is gonna walk, he doesn't wanna be a role player anymore , he JUST came into his own in this League. Hell, Harden too, but I don't think he nor Dwight minds being a number 2 or 3 guy on a roster.
He must be looking at D12 sideways right now after he fought so hard to recruit him, and now he's the odd man out.

Theres no reason not to.
His option was declined so he could become a RFA this season as opposed to an URFA next season. Seems like the Rockets want him to stay.

That would put the Rockets at around 63m in salary. So again, the haters dont know what they are talking about. If they have room for Melo, they have room for Lebron. What we had the cap space for Melo but all of a sudden no space for Lebron?
The denial is strong in this thread.
The plan, if all goes well, would be to free up the salary cap space necessary for another star while then matching any offer for Parsons from other teams (because he would be restricted, they could go over the salary cap to do so). What's more, the Rockets are planning on trading center Omer Asik and point guard Jeremy Lin as a way of making room for the likes of LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh or any other maximum-salary level caliber player who's available.

Morey traded Thomas freaking Robinson for picks and a Euro for space for D12. Asik will be easy and Jones is good with potential. Lin would be toughest but not really difficult. The pick goes too. It'll be pretty smooth.

Asik is a top 8 C in the league, he wont be hard to move.
Lin will have to have a first rounder sent off with him.
Obviously they wouldn't go to the same team, and nobody is stuck with any contracts, they both expire after this season. So how is anyone 'stuck' with them? What part of having 15m in cap space in 9 months makes you stuck?

LeBron is a stretch, I don't see it happening, Melo would be much more likely, but it doesnt guarantee anything because I see issues with him and Harden working together, not to mention Dwights touches would plummit (I think the ball should go through him), using the money on a few good players is a better option, strengthen the bench.

I think Lebron would be a better fit. He has to see that.
Lebron is a much more all around player than Melo. Whereas, Im not sure how two pure scorers would do on the same team (although Harden did average 6 assists and 4 rebounds and Melo is flirting with double digit rebounds), but Lebron who is a 'do it all' type player would probably mesh better.
Besides, Lebron doesnt seem to want the ball in his hands all that much, and a lot of times he ends up passing when he should just bulldog his way to the rim. Dwight has already said hed sacrifice touches for a third star as well.

Lol you're assuming that Lebron or Melo will sign before Parsons. If either of those guys take their time and Parsons signs the offer sheet right as free agency starts the Rockets either match him and lose out on Lebron Melo or let Parsons walk. Literally every thing would have to go right for them to keep Parsons and land Lebron or Melo
