Yet again another battle of the geezers, which center do you choose?

Wilts last NBA game (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpTNSLJqaAE) 23pts (9-16fg) 21reb 3a 2blk 3stl [G5 1973 Finals]

I think we know that Wilt blocked 5.4 shots x game during the 72-73 season.

Only 7 FGA for Wilt? Which role did Wilt have in those Lakers? He was focused on defense purely?

Kareem...

Wilt was a Mutombo type player with better passing. Kareem was still a scorer when his team needed it, an unstoppable scoring machine even at that age. Put up almost 27 ppg in the finals and played an underrated great series. Remember Jabbar still made an all-defensive team and he did grab 8 boards a game on a team stacked with rebounders. 72-73 Wilt could be more easily replaced so 83-84 Kareem wins.

Do you know any of his measurememts? Great player but he isnt even in the same class as Wilt except for maybe one thing. He was a stick who "bulked up" to about Wilts rookie weight

I didn't mean that his style or body size was like Mutombo. In 72-73, his on-court production is comparable to Mutombo with more passing. Outlet passing, high-post facilitation etc...

At that age in that role Wilt was one of the greatest defensive centers and the GOAT rebounder.

Wilt offered better defense and rebounding, plus he was still good for a bit over 10 PPG on great efficiency from the field, always a pretty good passer at the pivot...

But I definitely gotta go with Kareem, he wasn't playing major minutes but was still a really good scorer that could kill any defense and defensive player at any given time, very efficient and could hit his FT's, pretty good passer and really smart, nice defensive player still, solid rebounder as well, overall more impactful than Wilt. Not THAT hard of a choice tbh, especially going forward.. I mean, Jabbar was still winning FMVP at age 38, and having one of the GOAT Finals performance:

25.7 / 9.0 / 5.2 / 1.0 / 1.5, in less than 36 minutes, on .629 TS%, clutch and easily the major reason why they won

In most of their respective year-by-year battles, I pick Wilt. At 36, I may pick Kareem, Wilt's scoring becomes too silent at this stage, plus, Kareem had probably a better postseason. But it's not as if it's clear-cut, since 36 y.o Wilt is a vastly better rebounder, a better defender and a comparable passer. They both finished 4th in their MVP races, with Wilt getting more 1st place votes.

While leading the league in rebounding and probably blocked shots, he set yet another NBA record that still stands, 72% accuracy from the field, was still getting MVP votes. He was statistically and otherwise still doing more at that age than prime Mutumbo, it's beyond just being a better passer.

Deandre Jordan with passing ability is a much better comparison.

Agreed.........best answer yet. Head to head though, I'll take Wilt. He's gonna take away more of Kareem's game than vice versa.

If someone wanted a center that an offense could run through Kareem may be the better choice...But taking into account that just 3 years prior when given the roll he could still put up 40+ (http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/chambwi01/gamelog/1970/) makes me question whether Kareem would of been the better offensive option....Or much of one (http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/abdulka01/gamelog/1981/) to where it negates Wilts advantages over him in other areas. FG% wise Kareem was SLIGHTLY more efficient with a great FT%...So considering at 33 with the same amount of touches he could still have a similar output, and then taking into account at 36 his rebounding, defense, passing and stamina(43.2 MPG) it's hard for me to pick Kareem.
