Stop it with the 2014 spurs being the greatest team ever. Why do we sweep the Spurs struggling vs the Thunder under the rug when Ibaka came back? Why do we just sweep the Spurs struggling vs the Mavs under that dusty old rug too.Just because they dominated the Heat doesn't make them the greatest team ever.People saying Jordan couldnt beat this team are just being a silly goose

People forget so much about matchups. A great team can be pushed to the limits by a team who doesn't matchup well against them even if that's an 8th seed

Nobody really thinks the Mavs are better than the Thunder, Heat, or Blazers, do they?

you forgot about the coach. Rick Carlisle is a top 2 coach in the league right now.

The 2008 Boston Celtics got taken to 7 games in every series before the Finals.

People still talk about them as a very good team though.

I think we could have taken the blazers in a 7 game series

That Series would go 7 but i would give it to the blazers the funny thing is i think mavs would of beat the heat again if they made it tho.

You're not even considering matchups w/ the shit you're spewing. Thunder/Blazers/Mavs don't have the dominant paint presence you need to defeat the Heat. Grizzlies stand a better chance than any of those teams

Heat were a really bad matchup for Mavs. Lebron scored at will on them in regular season. Sometimes great teams struggle in earlier rounds. Spurs only struggled in 1 round.
Heat got taken to 7 games by the pacers. Does that mean that spurs also would have been taken to 7 games in 2013 finals if they played the pacers?
2008 celtics had to play 7 games each against hawks and cavs and then 6 games against pistons to reach the finals where they won in 6. Tell me about that team.

1-9 in the West could beat the Heat in 5, is what I'm hearing from the OP.

Okay I agree.

Rick is the second best coach in the league, but additionally spurs evolved with the advance of the playoffs, I think if I had more dallas facing forward, would have been easier

Spurs were obviously playing at the same level against the Mavs as they did the rest of the playoffs

Ginobili saved the Spurs in game 4 at dallas, if not that was a 1-3 hole for them and would have been all over.

Why do people like to think about stuff like this? It doesn't matter how they played. They won. They're the champions. End of story.

Carlisle outcoached Pops that series.

I actually think that the Spurs matched up well with the Mavs. Splitter contained Dirk well, while Kawhi, Green and Manu should have dominated Marion, Carter and Ellis.

Carlisle was able to hide Calderon and Ellis' defensive deficiencies and focused on stopping Kawhi.

We did what every team should have done.

Made Parker beat you consistently on the pick and roll and not leave shooters. I'm really shocked other teams did not try this more. The Heat did it at the end of game 2 and totally took the Spurs out of their game.

The over helping style of defense that all these teams play...just is exactly what the Spurs want.

Carlisle coaching on the Thunder would have won that series.

2008 Celtics got pushed to 7 games in the first round by the Hawks

Every team is a different matchup problem in the playoffs.

Also, Let's not pretend Duncan/Dirk haven't been playing vs each other in the same division for over a decade

Although, I do think Jordan would have beat these Spurs

Spurs woulda won in 5/6 games if not for Carter's miracle three. I thank the Mavs though, since the annihilation in game 7, the Spurs offense started to click which carried on through to the rest of playoffs. Thanks Mavs ;)
