View Full Version : Who Would You Take If You Were The Cavs?

Would you still take Joel Embiid? He might become really good but im concerned about what his health will be like in the future. It doesn't look good right now... he injured his back and just recently he injured his foot. I really hope he doesn't become another Greg Oden because I want to see another center who can dominate the game like Hakeem, Kareem, Shaq, etc. We've been waiting for a looong time to see another center of that caliber and Embiid might be the next one but as I said before it doesnt look good right now.
After the Embiid injury, it was down to either Parker or Wiggins for me. Right now, Parker looks to like the most NBA ready prospect. He's a lot like Carmelo. Both are tough athletes who can play in the post and shoot from pretty much anywhere. Parker is also a smart guy who, to me, is an underrated athlete. What im worried about is his defense. I noticed sometimes he got lazy on that end and that's definitely not what you want to see from a top prospect. In the future though I see him scoring 20+ ppg and becoming an all-star multiple times.
Moving on, Wiggins is the guy I think has the most potential out of anyone in the draft. He's just a flatout amazing athletic. As we all know he can jump out of the building, and can run super fast. A few days ago I was watching his highlights from the 41 point game he had back in March. On one of the plays he grabbed the rebound and outran every player, elevated up and slammed the ball with just alot of power. It took him 3 seconds to go from one end to the other and when he jumped to dunk the ball, he rose up in a blink of an eye. Very very quick.
Something that concerns new about him is his passion to work. Will he work his ass off in the gym to maximize his amazing potential? I really hope so. At times he looked like he didn't even want to play. Like the game where he had 4 points and 4 turnovers. It was his last tournament game. He played horrible and looked like he didn't care if Kansas lost. His jumper was inconsistent. At times his follow through would look bad. He definitely needs to work on that.
Something he really needs to do once he gets in the NBA is work on his upper body. Most of the times he had a hard time getting through guys and that was mainly because his upper body wasn't that built. Also, he got pushed around the basket. You don't want that to happen to you in the NBA. In the end if he works on his jumper, mentality and other weaknesses he can be really good. Potentially he can become a Vince Carter or Tracy McGrady type of player. He has all the tools... all he needs time do is work.
All in all, you can't go wrong with either guy, Cleveland. Both look like they can be future superstars.

Wiggins was playing against midgets in that 41 point game, and it came in a loss.
This guy is ridiculously overrated.
I expect Parker to blow the Cavs away in his workout. He knows he can lock the #1 spot up and that's what I expect him to do.
Depending on Embiid's surgery, I expect him to still be in play for Cleveland somehow

tl;but still read. Cuz I love my little Smooks.
I've been saying it before and I'll keep saying it over and over again. They SHOULD take Wiggins. The chemistry that they can build with between him, Tristan, and Bennett would be beneficial for all three of their careers.
Are they close at all right now? Being from the same area/city and all.
When it's all said and done, i think he'll be the best player in the draft. Easily.

I think so too. Kyrie and Wiggins will be an amazing duo in the future. When LeBron comes it'll be the new big 3 :D

I heard that the Cavs are high on Mitch McGary out of Michigan. PF, injured last season. Pot smoker/druggie. So don't be surprised if he is the first pick.

Lol. Some people think they will do the same thing they did last year where took a guy who no one thought would be the 1st pick in Anthony Bennett.
I'll be shocked if they passed up on Wiggins, Parker, Exum or even Embiid for some guy like Aaron Gordon, Julius Randle or Noah Vonleh.

If it was my team, I would trade the pick because each year, I made huge mistake and never pick the right player

Cleveland is between two hard places right now. If they pick Embiid there is a high bust potential, if they pass on Embiid he may become the best center since Shaq and dominate the league.
Cleveland has a such a bad rep that all these red flags will be forgotten if they pass on Embiid and he becomes a superstar.

Chris Grant has been gone for months, so these jokes are, well, meh.

Wiggins. Kyrie represents everything Wiggins isn't - he has a great scoring skill set, elite handles, and has the confidence and footwork to iso when needed. His strengths offset Wiggins's flaws. Wiggins can develop into an incredible off-ball player with Kyrie. His jumper has a lot of potential, his athleticism and explosiveness will let him be an elite transition player, and he's going to be the lockdown defender every team needs. My biggest concern with Wiggins was him being put in a position where he would have to be the primary ball-handler and scorer. In Cleveland, he can focus on doing what he does best. Running the floor, defending, and scoring with someone feeding him.
Kyrie/Jack
Waiters/Miles
Wiggins/Gee
Thompson/Bennett
Varejao/Hawes
And they still have room to sign quality players. If Blatt is as good as advertised as a coach, they could be good. That team makes the playoffs in the East, barring injuries.

Cavs really look like they're gonna be good in the future :applause:
Anyway, since Embiid got injured (sadly), do you still want the Bucks to get him or is it someone else now?

**** Embiid, there's no way I want an injury prone big man who's only played serious basketball for 4 years or so. Not after Bogut. The dude is already showing signs of knee, back, and foot problems...pretty much every possible red flag a young big man can show.
I want Jabari badly. Giannis is going to be a point-forward for us down the road, we need a pure scorer. We need someone flashy. The team/city hasn't had any excitement in a long time, Jabari is the perfect player to fill the seats and give us some star power.

In five years, it's going to be laughable that anyone thought Wiggins would be better than Parker

If Bucks draft Jabari, im definitely gonna keep an eye on them. Giannis + Jabari will be entertaining to watch if both turn out to be great players.
