Had the Mavericks attempted to defend their 2011 title by adding a new piece or two -- rather than gutting their core -- the Big Three might be standing here at the end of four seasons with just one fortunate title. Dallas coach Rick Carlisle and San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich put coaching clown suits on Spoelstra in 2011, 2013 and 2014. The Spurs were the better team last year and finished a rebound and a lucky bounce short of winning the title in six games. This assertion isn't really debatable. The Spurs came back with the same team and trounced Miami in five games, courtesy of three straight blowouts.

Miami's been the NBA's best team once in four seasons. But let's recognize the Heat's two titles. They have the banners, the trophies and the rings. Two-for-four is not good enough. Not after the noise of The Decision and the proclamations of six and seven titles. At this pace, the Big Three will need 12 seasons to reach six championships. You think Dwyane Wade has eight more seasons?

Or...OMG if Bran didn't disappear in 2011 the Heat could've won 3/4!

Yawn.

Next.

Whitlock must be on his haterade diet.

Basically, he's making a bunch of what if statements for shock value.

Whitlock's gimmick is getting old. Change it up man. Change it up.

He's not the only one. Everyone loves playing the hypothetical game in silly efforts to make this Heat team a lot worse than they really are.

Whitlock says he wants James to succeed. It's actually an article on what Lebron should do. Here's the link:

And if Bron had been even a semblance of his normal self in 2011 they'd have been the best team 3 out of 4 seasons. OP is full of shit.

4/4. If they had properly prepared, they would have beaten everyone. The first year was chemistry (which is excusable), the last year was boredom. Still, they were the best team every year IMO. Even tho the Spurs played apeshit ball really two years in a row.

Had Lebron didn't hand them the title on a silver plate, Dirk will retire a career loser.

Had Arison not be so cheap and actually utilize MLE and not amnestied Miller, the Heat would've 4-peated.

I would say they were the best TEAM only 1/4 vs okc, my definition of team includes (among other things) role players, bench and coaching where spurs have been far superior to the heat the last 2 years.

holy shit

I cant decide if its hilarious or pathetic that some of you still cant comprehend that it was the Dallas defense that shut LeBron down. It wasn't some random unexplainable disappearing act the way you fools try and pretend it was.

Dallas specifically designed their D to take the ball out of LeBron's hands and keep the ball away from him via double teams, ball denial, and zone defense. They used his unselfish, team oriented play against him. LeBron is excellent at making the "right" basketball play/not forcing shit shots and Dallas decided it was better to have him do that and live with whatever the rest of the Heat did than to let him get going.

Dallas TOOK that series. It wasn't handed to them. SMFH at the lack of bball iq here. :facepalm

The Heat have never been a great team and never will.

Even in 2012 they lost three in a row to the old as hell Celtics and went down 3-2.

As soon as they've met a good team with great coaching they've lost or should have lost(last year's finals).

A Fools gold of a team, only going to the finals in an atrocious/injury filled Eastern conference.

B-ball IQ?Are you serious? The average IQ level here borders on being mentally handicapped.

People live vicariously through their favorite players, and when you behave like that, admitting that your idol is not unbeatable requires mental gymnastic such as''had he played like he can he will never lose'',completely ignoring in the process what the other team did.

There are only three players on IH...Jordan,Kobe,Lebron...they've never lost, they only haven't won in particular years due to some unforeseen circumstance.

Forget about the fact that the Mavs had superior PG,Center,Power Forward, bench, offense and coaching. Those things are irrelevant.

The myth that Lebron choked is the only possible explanation for a player hyped so much.
