So you are totally content to keep playing the same exact characters for every single MK title? I am curious as to how you find this game to be less desirable than the other MK games that have come out in the past 14 years. It isn't something new for MK to have new characters on the roster. The few new characters that have been announced so far are really interesting.

I was hoping for a reboot of MK4 like they alluded to at the end of MK9's story mode with Shinnok getting the dragon amulet. No idea what's going on with the story line, but MK9 pretty much changed a lot of things. I would love to see Reiko and Fujin make an appearance. To be completely honest, I am not concerned at all about the story line, more so the online/competitive side of the game. From the looks of it, it's going to be a ground breaking game. Check out more footage with Ed Boon interviews, the game looks sick, and it's not even close to release day.

What's even more sad is that these kids never will experience real gaming.

Back in the day, when MK1-3 was out you went to the arcade, put your qtr up on the game, and when a guy lost, it was your turn. Winner stayed on.

Kids would surround the game talking real shit in real life. When you beat someone's ass you got to see who the hell you beat. You weren't playing some loser sitting in front of an LED with his gunnar gamer glasses, modded controller, talking shit on a $300 Triton headset.

Shinnok will be in the game, no doubt. Just a matter of time until his announcement.

Quan Chi's look in MKX reminds me so much of MK4. It's a modernized look, but you can see the influence from MK4. I would love to see Quan Chi still having the souls of Earthrealm fighters that died, that opens up the chance of seeing Liu Kang as a villain, maybe even the main villain. Could you imagine that shit? It'd be awesome.

I feel like both consoles will inevitably allow previous gen fightsticks, there has to be an adapter in the works to make that possible if the company doesn't do it.

Makes me happy to see you mention Reiko. By far my favorite character from MK4. I have been hoping he's in too, but starting to doubt it considering how little he is even mentioned by fans.

Also, I recommend getting this game on the PS4. The pad is way better for fighting games. Not to mention Sony is known to put X-Box to shame when it comes to player numbers online for Mortal Kombat.

I have been wanting that to happen for a long time. I remember Spawn being rumored a lot as a DLC character back in MK9. I hope it happens. It almost has to with that little bit of knowledge. It's a good fit.

His default look is not that great. Luckily there will be alternates and loads of DLC alternate skins. I pre-ordered the Limited Edition ($99.99 usd) at Gamestop that comes with a "Cold War inspired" Scorpion skin. That should be interesting. The Kollectors Edition comes with a Gold Scorpion skin. But that is 149.99 usd and comes with a little statue.

There should be about 24 characters on release. Four DLC characters are planned, but you never know if there will be more, another "season" as people are accustomed to calling it. This game doesn't need that many characters. The character variation system will keep people busy enough. Each character has a wider variety of potential.

I've definitely warmed up to the idea of this release now that we know we have a lot of characters returning from the older games. Also pumped my main 3 in MK9 are coming back (Scorpion, Kitana, Quan Chi). Shinnok's one of my favorite villains in the series as well. Slightly disappointed Fujin isn't going to make an appearance though...he's got great potential in any possible storyline.

A group of 7-8 of my friends used to get together every week for MK9 tourneys....we'd each pick 5 characters and throw all the names in a hat. Then we'd pick 2 names each round for a battle, and whoever lost got that character eliminated. Continue on until only one remains, and he was crowned MK champion for the week. Literally "crowned"....we bought a crown from a Halloween costume store. Friendships were forever changed lol. Hoping to keep the tradition with this one.

Graphics look great, x-rays and all the finishers are pretty intense, and the story seems pretty interesting.

No lie, I requested Tuesday off like two months ago. Hahah, MK is serious business. I am going to hit up tourneys for this one. From a competitive stand point, this game will be way better than MK9. Hit exchanges added, no invincibility frames for wake up attacks, and a stamina bar that limits your backdashing(though back dashing does have some invincibility frames, which is awesome considering it take some stamina meter)..those things right there are huge for me.

Still getting used to the new mechanics. This game will have a longer learning curve than MK9 and Injustice. But still, I could see casual gamers having a lot of fun with this game. Especially the Test Your Luck mode, it's both online and offline.

Buy this shit. 9.5/10...but take that with a grain of salt. I am an MK/Netherrealm Studios fanboy.

I'm up playing it too. :oldlol: Running through story mode though...I was way too curious to see what direction Netherrealm would take it to immediately jump into another game mode. I'm on Chapter 6 and have been pretty impressed so far! I gotta get me an arcade stick though...the D-Pad isn't as fluid as I'd like it to be, although I'm sure I said the same thing about MK9 before I got acclimated to it.

Yeah, I considered myself to be well above average at MK9 and the CPU in MKX wipes the floor with me on the two top difficulty settings. I just beat the story last night, so I think I'm going to do some work on practice mode on chaining combos together.

For those who haven't played through story mode, definitely check it out. The storyline is pretty intense, but I think it ended really abruptly. I didn't even realize I was fighting the final boss until after I had beaten him. And keep watching through the credits...halfway through they allude to possibly making a sequel. Not quite as dramatically as they did at the end of MK9, but still.

I completed the training mode and did a bit of practice. Did a 1v1 vs CPU. Kung Lao vs random (Reptile was chosen) and beat him but messed up the combination to do the fatility

got it yesterday and still getting the hang of it, haven't played MK since MK3 I think. When did they change the buttons for scorpions spear throw?

I've beaten the klassic tower and it played the ending movie for scorpion without any of the other story mode cut scenes so I had no clue what was going on in it. Might start the actual story tonight.
