They love him there. There's no other place where he'll get the kind of love he gets there.

Who cares? Do you think Melo has substantial contact with people that hate him ?

His time in New York is clearly done. That team needs to start over and so does he.

If he wants to win a ring in his prime he has to find a different team.

Nobody is an idiot for leaving the Knicks. It's perfectly understandable.

Melo is kind of fools gold anyway. Chicago is a pretty good fit, but if he goes anywhere else, he's not really going to be putting you over the top. Who cares if he goes to Houston? They already have enough scoring. They need defense. Their 3 pt chuckfest style of play will eventually flame out in the playoffs.

Whoever gets him will be hyped up as title contenders, and I don't really understand why. Hell, his team in Denver was great. Why did he even leave in the first place? He had plenty of quality players around him, more than in NY as a matter of fact. Grass isn't always greener on the other side.

I feel the opposite, but at least you have a somewhat justifiable reason for him to stay. Purely from a basketball standpoint I think he would be insane to stay.

Phil Jackson looks more like a idiot. If Melo leaves. IMO

Why? I dont think Phil wants Melo to stay. I dont think Melo wants Melo to stay.

I honestly see no reason for him to stay in New York. And he can make comparable $$$ in less taxed states.

That is unless Melo really enjoys being the man and NYs favorite bball player. Which has its perks I guess.

live and being loved in the best city in the world while not having to leave any money on the table >>>>>>>>>>>>> Going to Houston or Chicago and leave money while not winning anything.

I mean what it comes down to is does Melo want to compete for championships while he's still in his prime?

Dude isn't getting any younger, he needs to head to a competent organization if he ever wants to play meaningful basketball in May and June again.

I mean, in 1 year the Knicks will be a prime destination in the free agency. Why go to Chicago? Rose is such a wild card and honestly who knows if he'll be close to what he was pre injury? The dude wasn't even close to his normal self before the latest injury.

Houston I could see him going to but he'd leave way too much money and it is still the stacked western conference.

Either he hits up Lebron and teams up with him or he stays for a year, Lebron opts in with Miami next season and then him and Lebron could team up with somebody else in NY.

I wish teams could loan players out to each other like they do in soccer. Surely Melo could opt in with the Knicks this summer, get sent out to loan to Houston or Chicago this season and compete for a championship while the Knicks tank hard, get good picks and then call him back next season while signing Lebron.

Bulls are basically the Knicks:

* Both have a defensive minded center
* Both have a defensive minded two-guard
* Both have a former superstar who is injury-prone
* Both teams will need Melo to score 40+ in order to win playoff games

He'll have more money if signs with the Knicks so no point going to a similar team like the Bulls for fewer money.

Heat or Spurs is his best option.

Knicks would be idiots to offer him the 5yr max at his age

What isn't a wild card in NY? So they'll have some cap space, no real draft picks and a bunch of new players and a new coach. I don't really see it as a place that free agents will be lining up to play. Great Rose is a wildcard but Chicago just went to the second round without Rose. You think they can't get further than that in the pathetic east by adding Melo? The Knicks won't even be in the playoffs next year. I don't even like Melo but he shoud go to a team where he can win and NY is not that team right now. It's going to take at least three years before the Knicks can turn things around. They have no assets and it's hard to just buy a team because of the new CBA and the cap.

Yeah not that I don't like him I would just rather start fresh. Hopefully we can get a player and couple first rounders for him.

I wanna see him have a chance on a good team.

He loses 11m over 5 years if he goes to Houston (no income tax, NY is the second highest in the country).

So he'll lose 2.2m per a year, but become part of a big 3 and compete for titles.

I think its worth it.
