For me, they are the CLEAR favorites to win again.
Houston still has McHale (Pop coaches circles around him)
Clippers are very overrated
Mavs are mehh
Suns are not there yet
T-Blazers don't match up well at all against the Spurs
And only the Thunder are threats to beat them in the WCF.
Provided they are healthy, and Patty Mills doesn't leave, don't see any reason why they can't make another (and FINAL) run next year and win it all.
Athletic teams like OKC and HOU are bad match ups for them. Coming out of the West is brutal.

I have them as early favorites if nobody significant retires/leaves. Still gotta see what happens with the FA class though.
Patty Mills is replaceable. They wont find another Diaw.

Assuming they bring back the same team (who knows what happens), and they're healthy, they have a great opportunity to make it back to the Finals.
The chemistry and continuity is there. The talent is there. Kawhi and Splitter continue to blossom.
Keep in mind Brooks and Perkins are coming back (lol), and the Rockets are still lead by Haren and Coward.
And for those who chime in about age, don't forget Spurs kept everybody's minutes below 30 mpg last season :applause:
Personally, I'll just be happy if they make the WCF. Always an achievement in it of itself.

You say the Mavs are mehhh, but they were the only team that seriously challenged the Spurs, they took em' to 7 games.

Mavs almost missed the playoffs though, and their defense was below league average. Every team beat the Spurs at least once in the playoffs (Mavs, Blazers, Thunder, Heat). It happens. They gave the Spurs a run but assuming they stay the same or improve only marginally I agree they're meh. Spurs have a Dirk stopper too (Splitter). Assuming Dallas lands a Melo type, think it's a new ball game.

The most entertaining series in the first round. IMO

Sometimes you just have to listen to the universe for answers. Some things just are.

assuming San Antonio sees OKC next year, I doubt they beat them again.

You're underestimating how disastrous a coach McHale was in the playoffs.

The Mavs are one Omer Asik away from contending.
