We often hear that Shaq played on too many teams. Iirc, he played on 6 teams. Kareem, Jordan and LeBron played on 2 teams. Barkley played on 3 teams.

How many is TOO MANY for a superstar player?

I think it's more about which of their years were spent on other teams.

Jordan spent all his relevant years on one team, same with malone. Kareem split his best years between two teams, same with LeBron...

Shaq spent his early years with orlando, his peak years with the Lakers, his downturn years with the Heat and then hopped to 3 other teams for a year or so each... he should have retired after the heat I think and his career would have been looked at more positively down the stretch. The end reeked of desperation, like he couldn't just let it go when he knew he couldn't bring it anymore.

2-3 teams is the max I think, but context also plays a big role.

Teams played way after prime are irrelevant.

just the way it is.
Is that like the rule where anybody who changes their jersey number is a bitch, but it is ok if you change teams?

Kobe = bitch
Jordan = bitch

case by case scenario... there is no set number..

Ray Allen is on his fourth and has been more than a solid player at each and every stop.. Shaq should have stopped on his third..

Horry was on four different teams and produced everywhere he went

Not to compare him to Horry but Jordan was on two and easily could do without his time in Washington being part of his career notes...

Case by case

How many is TOO MANY for a superstar player?

3. For example, if LeBron joins another team (which will be his 3rd), his image will be ruined.

Obviously there's no number... case by case.

Shaq should have stopped on his third.

Shaq constantly gets mentioned but he was pretty decent post Miami. Averaged 13/11 for his first 28 games in PHX. 15/9 with 2.6 blocks in a 1st round loss in the playoffs. At age 36 averaged 18 ppg on 60% shooting, which led the league I believe. 8 boards and 1.4 blocks. Made the All-Star team. Averaged 12/7 in Cleveland and played in 11 playoff games with them. Even with Boston when he was clearly done he averaging 9 points on 66% from the field.

He had a great individual year in PHX everyone was talking about at the time and he went on to help the Cavs somewhat.

I think 3 is the max, then you become a journey man.
