Golden State's decision to execute a sign-and-trade with Andre Iguodala last summer (four years, $48 million) is having a serious ripple effect now, as there are only so many eight-figure players that can fit under one team's arena roof. Thompson is known to be seeking a maximum-salary contract,

What is it with trash that overestimate their worth to a team?

A guy who put up 18/3/2 thinks he's worth a max deal? When is the last time a "quality" SG playing ~36mpg was so pathetic in the latter 2 categories? Even Reggie 1-dimension Miller had better career averages in both categories.

Still a better deal than giving Kobe the max

Why would he ask for less? OP are you slow? :oldlol:

What is he supposed to say "Hey I would seek the max but that would be crazy talk. So I'm worth like $9mil per. So you can decide how many years you want to pay that. Or just toss me an offer and I'll sign if I like it. F*ck it, who cares."

If that comes close to happening, Golden State really really should have traded for Love.

When is the last time a young star didn't reach for every dollar he could grab? He may not get that deal but why shouldn't he be trying to get paid?

One thing working in his favor is the lack of quality SGs in the NBA at the moment.

Dat agent:applause: :applause:Fixed.

Of course he's seeking the max. He won't know what he's worth until the process is over.

Not sure his parents would allow him to handle so much money.

I think he's worth $10M+ but his max would be ~$16M if im not mistaken.... im not sure if he's worth that much but Steph Curry is! GSW better make sure they have room to resign Curry in the future when restructuring Klays contract.

He may not get it, but what young stud isn't going to grab for every dollar he can early in his career? OP acting like this is news.

Seeking max deal: Every player in the NBA.

Plenty of teams will give Thompson the max if he becomes a free agent, Atlanta being one of them.

Trade Now.

I like the kid, but Barnes can play the 2. He might be worth the max to the right team, but to GS, he isn't.

I'm not saying he's wrong to ask for it, but damn everyone thinks they are worth the max these days.

That snicker only sweetens the deal.

I'm not saying he's wrong to ask for it, but damn everyone thinks they are worth the max these days.

That's because NBA teams tell them they're worth it by continuously offering and giving max-level contracts to players that really aren't that good. If he's one of the top 2-3 FAs when his deal is up, you think some team isn't going to offer it? These teams are just giving the top FAs each summer max money, regardless of how good they actually are. The fault here does not lie with the players' mindset.

Top 5 SG for the next decade... someone will give him a max offer.

He doesn't deserve a max deal right now, but it won't surprise if a team gives it to him. There's so many overpaid players in the NBA compared to what they're worth.
