It's actually just a slideshow comparing Cleveland and Miami in the winter.

OKC fans should feel scared now. Idk if you guys know but Perkins was the true heart of the team. You guys constantly make fun of him, but deep down you know he's the real reason OKC went to WCF. He bailed out Durants ass so many times (remember that game tying shot?), and hides Durant's defensive deficiencies.

Holy shit Presti, jump on this shit ASAP.

For as much as the Heat need post defense the man is just not worth it. If he ever touches the ball on offense he's liable to turn it over, no matter the situation and opposing teams will literally refuse to guard him putting more pressure on everyone else.

Plus we have Steven Adams who was one of the best bigmen in the playoffs this past year.

If we can manage to trade Perkins to Miami I don't know what I will do but it will probably be my happiest moment ever as a Thunder fan. :lol

It is also being reported that Oklahoma City plans to bring over their young center Tibor Pleiss from Europe that they drafted four years ago. He just averaged 13 points, seven rebounds and shot about 56% from the field last year for his European team for one of the better teams in Europe. Is he the new back up to Adams?

Could this be the beginning of a potential three team trade between Oklahoma City, Miami and Orlando?

Perkins has more trade value now because he is in the final year of his contract and some teams to find that very appealing to have that much money coming off the books going into next off-season.

If Pat Riley is pursuing him, that must be a large part of their thinking.

It'll be no different than when Joel Anthony was there, he'd play a similar role and wouldn't get many offensive touches at all.

I'm sure if Joel freakin' Anthony can find a role on a championship team, Perkins shouldn't have a problem.

if this tibor pleiss news is true then we need to amnesty perkins regardless.

tibor pleiss is a ****ing beast. 7'1 with a repordetly monster wingspan, very fluid on offense, a great mid range and FT shooter, a great help defender, solid rebounder.

Marlo_Stanfield

Perkins was okay in OKC but hes a no show on offense and he wont fix the Heats rebounding and interior defense.
he shuts some Centers down but gets owned very often by others and fouls alot( Heat defense is already very foul prone). Ibakas ELITE defense covers his weaknesses often.
he wont help Miami at all and has zero athletic ability.
PAt Riley is the worst GM ever when it comes to signing Centers( i know he signed Shaq but Shaq was nearing his end and just wanted away from Kobe).
i hope LeBron just leaves, this team is done.
even if they get a Center that is not useless, Wade will continue making a fool of himself every playoff run:facepalm :facepalm

he would be a solid backup big at worst imo

he led his team in blocks, steals, rebounds, was 2nd on his team in ppg, and shot 58% from the field while also being a great FT shooter

This is the position Riley put himself in when he signed Wade, LeBron and Bosh. It's not about Riley being bad at signing centers. It's about Riley forking over so much money for just 3 players to where you can only offer certain free agents mid-level exceptions or lower.

Let's say this Miami thing doesn't happen.

Bring over Pleiss, cut Thabeet and his non guaranteed contract and give Pleiss a couple of months to learn their system and evaluate his ability to be a backup right away or not.

If Pleiss is ready as a back up and Adams continues to develop, then trade Perkins before the trade deadline. And if Pleiss isn't quite ready, then just play out the year with Perkins if Adams and Pleiss aren't quite ready.

He is officially listed as 7'1" and 269 pounds. I doubt that his weight is really 269 pounds because he looks more like 20 or 30 pounds lighter than that.

However I agree with you that he appears light and could be a little soft, although he does look very skilled.

This. Is getting a tough inside defensive presence really worth getting when teams just simply completely ignore him on the offensive end forcing you to play 4 on 5?

Great post. But surely LeBron, who has an extremely high basketball IQ, will still realize taking a shot with 3 defenders on you is a better option that kicking it to a wide-open Perkins.

http://stats-for-the-nba.appspot.com/ratings/xRAPM.html
If you don't know what rapm is it's an advanced +/- to measure a player's overall impact. Lebron as expected was the highest at 7.9, cp3 2nd at 7.4, Durant is 5.4, WB is 3.6, and Perkins is a pathetic -3.6. Birdman is a +/- beast every season and even now at his advanced age posted a 4.6. It really makes very little sense that Perkins starts with Durant and is usually in the game with him and can post this big of a +/- discrepancy. Only logical explanation is he's just that bad.

I used +/- stat because using all other stats for Perkins is equally laughably unfair, and people like to point at "ppg, per, rpg etc don't measure his impact" as a cop-out.

Then you use the eye test. Admittedly he's had the best playoff run of his okc career by far (not saying much), but he's still clogging the lane on offense while giving the opponent a target (himself) they don't have to defend and can freely cheat off of. Ben Wallace despite his offensive difficiencies, still made you put a body on him because he was just that good on the boards, didn't clog the lane, and can finish off the catch. Perkins on the other hand has really no saving grace to his game other than post defense against big strong players with no moves.

The Heat could stand to add more talent at point guard. Kyle Lowry would be their dream, though Toronto must be considered the favorite to retain him. Miami could also land much-needed help on the wings by snagging Shawn Marion, Marvin Williams or Trevor Ariza. I'm also told that Pat Riley intends to make a run at Oklahoma City center Kendrick Perkins, who has one year left on his contract.

qrich
06-25-2014, 05:52 PM
Depends on what Miami is giving up, if they can keep the three together, Perkins wouldn't be an atrocious addition as he'll fix a major weakness right away and not allow teams to grab every damn rebound.

if yo compare pleiss's stats to tiago splitter and luis scola's in the same league they are better iirc

And Marko Jaric was better than Manu Ginobili? Your point?

Pleiss is a much weaker version of Ryan Hollins with a better feel on the offensive end. A serviceable backup, but far from a beast.

Just imagine Miami's offense with Perk in there. Teams would just go small and then whoever had Perk on defense would just sag off onto one of the corner 3pt guys allowing the man who is covering that corner guy to rotate easily helping the whole team defense out.

basically what you saw in OKC but I think Perk would screw Miami's offense over even more because they rely so much on the drive and kick.
