Josh Smith is an 17/9/4 guy who plays Elite defenses. Top 5 PF in todays game, show some respect!

If you don't take Dwight at 1 you fail at drafting.

arguably the best 2 centers in today's game and a top 5 Power Forward who is one of the best all around players in the League.....

Man, this place has gotten really, really weird. No wonder I don't post here much anymore. We have a poster than is obsessed with Josh Smith and a poster that thinks Zach LaVine is NBA-ready and going to be a perennial All-Star.

Was it ever this bad back in the late 2000s?

Josh is quick enough to guard wing players. Dwight only clogs the paint and gets blocks.

Interesting, so tell me this, why is Josh Smith considered overpaid and barely top 10 at his position today? And Dwight is considered top at his position?

Josh Smith is top 5 at his position an it is because the center position is so thin. Heck if Josh played center he would probably be a top 5 center even though he would be out of position.

No,

Dwight
Al Jefferson
Davis (will end up a pf)
Duncan
Drummond

are all clearly better, he would not be a top 5 C

If Smith played out of position the rankings would be:
Dwight Howard
Al Jefferson
Josh Smith
DeAndre Jordan
Andre Drummond (Marc Gasol)

the others you named are power forwards

You are on your own if you believe that, but just to confirm things,

Smith plays PF right?

Aldridge
Griffin
Dirk
Duncan
Bosh
Ibaka
Z-Bo
David West
Anthony Davis
Kevin Love

are all better than Smith, thats 10 people already at his own position

Griffin
Davis (some consider him a center)
Love
Aldridge
Dirk
Smith

so Smith is top 5-6 range depending on what people see Davis as.

Thats true, but they are still better, and if you want to try and change your argument and put him as an SF

LeBron
Durant
Melo
Paul George
Kawhi

are all better.

they are not better but i agree Josh would not be a top 5 SF, the position is too stacked and he doesn't have a consistent enough jumper to be a good SF on most teams and that is why he struggled this past season.

So after all of this, why the hell would you think he should go #1 in that draft?

obviously it depends on the situation because the 2 are close but in a vacuum and at their current ages, yes. Don't forget Josh Smith never gets hurt.
