View Full Version : How Come The Knicks Never Gotten A Megastar?

The other top 3 big market teams like the Bulls and Lakers had megastars. Bulls had Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose. Lakers had Magic, Kobe, Kareem, Shaq, Jerry West, Wilt and Elgin Baylor. New York who is consider #1 in sports especially in basketball. The mecca of basketball. No megastar played for the Knicks.

Patrick Ewing isn't a megastar. Just a superstar. Same with Melo. Jason Kidd, Penny Hardaway were superstars past their prime playing there. LeBron talked to the Knicks while as a free agent but decided to sign with the Heat. That's probably the closet for NY to ever getting a megastar to play for them. Well, maybe Michael Jordan. He would've sign with NY if Bulls didn't re-sign him while as a free agent in '97. Maybe they'll get their chance this year with LeBron this summer. If not? Probably will never happen and will never get another NBA Championship.

Melo.

And Melo should've won the MVP award two years ago.

they have an owner who's happy to settle for mediocrity so long as they can fill seats. Disappointing I like the knicks and wish they'd try and compete. I hope phil changes this attitude.

You mean why hasnt the Knicks ever drafted high enough to get a megastar? Well they constantly retooled instead of rebuilt. We change GM's and Coaches like underwear. We have a meddling owner.

How can you mention him and then not include Melo?

If Rose is a "megastar" than I don't understand how Pat isn't one. Or McAdoo, considering they played about the same amount of seasons. Clyde is a 50 greatest...

And of course the greatest:

They've been poorly run for the last 40 years and haven't been in a position to grab megastars when they're available

Kareem would have been a Knick if they had any assets to make a trade for him. Likewise LeBron and Shaq probably would have considered New York if the situation was better

Ewing, King, Earl the Pearl, Frazier were close.

Ewing was drafted with all the hype of a megastar.

If you're going to say Rose, then those guys qualify.

MJ said it himself in a book (for the love of the game is the title). If he was single, he would have done it.

Can you imagine MJ playing at MSG 41 times a year?

He means 2013, and he's a troll.
