View Full Version : Imagine if Refs actually like Melo from 12-14

If tha refs gave Melo superstar treatment like Lebron, Durant, cp3 and harden during 2012-2014

How different would it be??:confusedshrug:

Very different. Best scorer in the game.

I honestly think Melo is better than Durant. The main difference is officiating. KD gets everything called in his favour and Melo gets nothing.

He got hacked a shit ton over the season. If he got his calls he would average 30+ with ease.

He does get superstar treatment. He is allowed to bowl over defenders while players like Lebron are always called for charges. Melo doesn't even foul out of games. If the refs called the games fairly Melo would foul out in the first quarter of every game.

Is that like honestly thinking Drexler was better than Jordan?

he gets shit calls but his game style does create a lot of the contact himself, a lot of the calls I've seen knicks fans complain about on ish are borderline offensive fouls so probably good no calls. Durant and lebron get a lot of iffy calls but most of their contact is created through body control and drawing the defender to hit them while moving rather then melos stop start bowling into people contact. I imagine refs have seen this and so hold back on some calls that should go his way at times too.

1. Melo was the ROY over Bron

2. Melo was the MVP of the league two seasons ago

3. Melo takes more physical punishment without recourse than any player in the league

Just look at both their stats from the floor. Remove all the points from free throws.

Without KDs bailout calls, he's about 18-19 PPG from the floor on about 42% shooting.

Now consider the gap of players they have around them.

If Melo had the same supporting cast and favourable officiating that Durant has, he'd easily have better results that Durant. Just my opinion.

Just removing the free throws puts Durant at 23.3 and 50.2% this past season.

Caremelo is 21.4 and 45.2%. Anthony is a little bit better rebounder, while Durant is much less of a black hole.

Yeah Durant has the better team. Anthony has been on good teams, though. Over their careers, Durant is only getting 0.7 more FT attempts, while averaging 2.1 more ppg. If you want to credit WB for that difference, then fine, I guess.

Knicks were 54-28 and Melo's 2nd option was J.R. Smith. Melo led the league in scoring. He was more valuable to the Knicks than Bron was to a team full of hall of famers and all-stars.

Dwight was getting killed tbh.

Thankfully he didn't complain and played through it, and had a very good series.
Didn't he have quite a few FT attempts?

melo creates his contact by running through people, howard gets legit hacked all the time. He does whinge though and it used to lead to tech fouls when he'd throw his elbows to get people off him.

I've been to a few live Knicks game. I never really saw him get bad calls to be perfectly honest :confusedshrug: . However, I have seen Hardaway get a lot of rookie calls against him.

well you had to watch more knicks games cuz Melo definitely get treated unfair compared to Lebron and Durant.

Maybe, I only watched about 3 or 4 games live since Melo came to be honest.

Meh, he doesn't get calls because the majority aren't actually fouls. Its about their body type and how they react to it. Durant is taller and skinny so fouls are much more evident. Melo just charges in, pushes off his defenders and then collides with them. Refs can't really call that.
