I would like to be positive about like you. I think like Lakers made a mistake going with him over Vonleh. He's too undersized.

You're going to love him. Give him a chance. I see something in him that I haven't seen in a long time from players of this generation.

He's going to struggle mightily on defense. He's strong, but just can't match the better PF's in the league. They will make scooby snacks out of him.

Honestly, he'll be like a Prime Elton Brand/Z Bo hybrid.

Vonleh will be a legitimate bust. Just calling it how I see it.

We don't know if he still looks like this. This was picture has been posted short before he even started playing college.

Randle is Kevin Love without the range.. Lakers should have just traded for Love.

If it was possible, they would have.

Like who? All the power forwards these days are three point shooting ******* like Ryan Anderson and Steve Novak and Christina Bosh.

This was posted before his season at Kentucky

I have no doubt about his work ethic, tenacity, etc.

I just hope he can get more than 8 boards in 32 minutes of play.
I see him being over .500 and able to average a good amount of points. 14+ even in his rookie season.

Randle just recently turned 19....

So I would assume he will get bigger.

Im so excited about Randle on the Lakers. He has the potential to be a great player in the future. I just hope the new coach give him enough burn so he can get better faster.

What he lacks in size, he makes up in strength & athleticism. If you look at the top PFs in the game, Blake Griffin was only half an inch taller and had a smaller wingspan and the same max vert at the draft combine compared to Randle.

I don't see the problem here.

Randle's legit. Any Laker fans doubting him are dumb.

G-Funk
06-27-2014, 09:36 AM
U don't need to be long and have a long wingspan, as long as he can use his body and strength effectively, which he already does.

People cooled down on him after being hyped as #1 or #2 a few months ago but he is a great pick at #7, even at #4 or #5 he seemed like fair value.

He is not a franchise changer by any means but I am sure he will be an excellent player and multiple all-star. True Lakers fan will love him.

The bust factor comes in because:

He's undersized
He plays below the rim
He doesn't defend
Isn't a high energy/hustle player
Poor shooter

That makes it extremely high possibility that he will fail. Guys that are short for their position have to make up for it in other ways such as great leaper, good shooter, etc. He can't do either of those. Zach Randolph has 2-3 inches on him. That is a big reason why Randloph succeeds. That length creates space on the inside and less likely to be blocked.

He is a tweener forward. Tweeners have a big time bust possibility. But you could say the same about a lot of the players drafted.

He's not a tweener at all. He barely ever even took a jumper.

He's as pure a PF as you'll ever find. He's a bit undersized, but that's not what a 'tweener' is.

Though I hate the Lakers, Randle was one of my favorite prospects coming this year. I hope he does well.

06-27-2014, 10:41 AM
He's not a tweener, just a standard PF, and he can definitely be a high energy/hustle guy.

Still a bit worried about him, although the Lakers surely know what they're doing.

Tweener can be relating to size or skillset. He has the height of a SF but the skillset of a pf. Hence tweener.

Tweeners can go the other way too. Height of a pf/c and the skillset of a sf.

And the most classic tweeners are PG/SG. Height of a PG with the skillset of a SG.

Yeah him being undersized makes him a tweener.

Tweener is how you play, not just your size.

Derek Williams is a tweener because he doesn't fit the 3 or 4. Randle is a 4.

"You are who you can guard".

Randle got DESTROYED by C Early. He got DESTROYED by J Stokes (twice). He got DESTROYED by Johnny OBryant (twice). These are 2nd rd picks and borderline NBA guys.

Aaron Gordon can defend the 3. He can defend the 4. He might not be built like Randle but he is every bit as tall, has a longer wingspan, and is a far better leaper. Can't shoot for crap but neither can Randle...

I think he's going to lead the league in turnovers among big men next year I think. Will get pinched by long arm guys in the post, won't get the type of calls he got in college.

you're comparing his body to scrubs and out of weight players... lets compare him to the NBA PFs and Cs he will have to face on a nightly basis.

:facepalm

Poor man's Thomas Robinson. Strong enough in college to push people around. Couldn't do it in the NBA. Not tall enough. Not enough wingspan.

Gordon isn't terribly sexy but he is a great athlete that can guard BOTH his positions while Randle can guard NEITHER of his.

Gordon is 1000x the defender Randle is. He would be hard to duplicate where JJ Hickson will give you what Randle will.
