At first, I wasn't too thrilled about trading their picks for him, esp with gary harris still available. But this kid cant flat out score, he has good post moves and deep range. He was double teamed most of his senior year and he still put 27ppg with good effieciency. Just how he moves without the ball and reading his defenders will give the bulls an instant spark they desperately need on offense. He played 4 years in college and a coaches son and currently working on his speed and lateral quickness.

Thibs was able to coach him for team USA and is very high on him-

I'm excited to see him with Da Bulls. We'll see what kind of impact he can make. I think he'll be in the rotation for sure.

i'm usually very positive on tall white players but this guy seems too flabby and has a bodytype that will put on weight into his career

I dunno if he will have much success

His defense is so bad, Thibs is going to hate him :oldlol:

He also struggles big time to get his shot off against long defenders. Unfortunately for him, all defenders in the NBA are long and athletic.

Flabby? He's at 7% bf, don't the let the baggy shirt fool ya. Its game over when you see him in a sleeveless jersey. As far as defense, thibs will work it out, esp if thibs sees potential. Also, Noah/Taj/Butler and rose can help cover for his lack of defense. They did with boozer for all these years who doesn't even try on defense. :facepalm

I see a lot of Larry bird with more athleticsm :applause:Are you joking? He's the same size as Bird, but he's slower, and doesn't have 1/10th the vision and passing ability.

How often are rookies drafted in the mid first round big time impact players right away? Almost never.

I see a better-shooting, worse-rebounding version of Matt Harpring, without the dirty elbows too (I hope)

I'm no McDermott lover but that was with defenses keying on him. 70% of his shots were contested. He's an excellent shooter and moves extremely well without the ball. I actually think that Chicago is a great fit for him and that he'll be a pretty decent pro. Not an all star but solid.

I don't think it was the safest, I think that it was the smartest. I think he's going to do well there. If Rose is healthy I think he'll do really well. He's more athletic than people give him credit for and I think that he'll survive as a three in the league. He can score in a lot of different ways and his movement off the ball was the best out of any player in this draft. Do not underestimate how this helps the other guys on your team. I don't think that he's going to score 25 a game but I think that he can be a solid 15 pts a game guy. Not this year necessarily but eventually.

Hopefully he'll live up to the McBuckets name.

70% of his shots were contested last year, and he still raked. So this makes no sense. All players have issues against long defenders. That's what screens are for. YOU of all fans should know this, Kyle Korver is awful at creating his own shot, yet he is a great scorer.

I expect him to be a nice replacement for Dunleavy, And a good substitute for Melo. :D

McDermott is more athletic than most people think. He has a nearly 40 inch vert among other good numbers. It's just that his game isn't based off that. It's more fundamentally sound. That will prolong his career. The Bulls gave up a lot for him, so they have him in their plans. They desperately need scoring and McDermott can do that.

no pun intended

It's okay. Thibodeau makes anyone an elite defender.

I'm interested to see how this kid turns out. He's a great shooter and has shown he can go to the post, also a smart player, can move off-ball, and has size, seems tough too... He still has plenty of ways to go though, needs to get craftier and get better at creating his own shot, really has to improve his passing game to open up his scoring/shooting too and somewhat compensate for the athleticism, and continue to improve his inside/finishing game plus ball-handling, also needs to get better on D. Let's see how he develops.

Don't go that route, please :facepalm

Bird was over 2'' taller, bigger, stronger, more athletic, much more craftier, way higher intangibles, way better passer and floor general, better at creating his own shot, better footwork, better post-game, greater soft-touch with either hand, and finishing skills, easily better rebounder, tougher, smarter, way better defender, more NBA ready...... But I guess any tall white player that can shoot always need to bring up Larry Bird comparisons  That shit needs to stop, really :facepalm
