New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony hopes to make a decision on where he will play next season in the second week of July, a source told Yahoo Sports.
Anthony opted out of his contract with the Knicks recently to become an unrestricted free agent and can begin talking to teams July 1. A source said there is currently no frontrunner for Anthony's services. He is expected to meet with the Knicks, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks. There was no mention of the Miami Heat. Anthony hopes to visit the aforementioned teams in their respective cities during the opening days of free agency. At the moment, no other teams are expected to get a meeting.

Rockets doesn't need anymore offense, they need perimeter defense which melo doesn't offer them. And I doubt melo wants to be stuck playing PF with parsons at the 3.
no way in hell he stays with nyk or goes to LA

I think he should go to the Bulls
I think he could go to the Heat if it all falls nicely in place
I think he will stay with Knicks with a minor pay cut which does little to help them down the road.

This, Bulls are the perfect fit for him. He can provide the offense they're missing and the rest of the team could hide him in the defensive end.
The Rockets are a terrible fit and he would have to play the 4 facing West' PFs like Griffin, Randolph, Dirk, Duncan, Ibaka, LMA, Love, Davis and now Randle.

I do want Melo to join Miami, but I do have a sneaking suspicion that he'll just end up going to whatever big money glamour market.
Chicago if they can pull of a S&T to get him.
They'll likely have to work a 3 team trade and find someone to take on Boozer. OR amnesty Boozer and dump some cap space - Taj being the likely candidate. Losing Taj could hurt their chances.
I don't know why he would want to go out West and deal with all that competition. Spurs, OKC, Clippers, Blazers, Warriors, Rockets, Mavs, Grizz...
East you've really only got Heat, Pacers (and they could lose Lance). Lots of young teams after that.
Makes sense to join Thibodeau and Chicago's defense. Rose is a question mark, but Chicago with Melo this season probably could of challenged to get to the ECF. Add 75% of what Rose was and they should have no issues making the ECF
The Knicks won't do S&T unless last resort, and I don't see Chicago amnesty Boozer. I agree with Bill Simmons (frightening) that asking the Bulls to pay Boozer $16M for doing nothing isn't something they will do. And if you are doing a S&T and getting rid of a whole bunch of players on the roster, then what's the point of Melo doing that?
I think if the Bulls were all in money wise they'd be a much bigger threat. When they are actually willing to amnesty Boozer, then I'll be worried.

It's still mind boggling to me how anybody thinks Melo to Chicago remotely makes sense. People will believe anything if it is repeated enough.

I would like to see him go to the Lakers but he would be a great fit in Chicago.

Simmons has no idea what he's talking about.
Paxson was on the Waddle & Silvy (Chicago ESPN radio show) and made it extremely clear that Bulls will use any and all financial resources to make the team better. They even straight up asked if that meant using the amnesty clause, and Paxson straight up said if they needed to, they would use the amnesty clause.
If they can't find a trade partner to take on Boozer, his ass is getting amnestied.
Other "assets" that I could see being in play to make a S&T happen. Mirotic, SAC pick, 2015 first rounder with right to swap picks with Cavs, Dunleavy's expiring deal, non guaranteed contracts of Mike James, Ronnie Brewer, and Louis Amundson.
Chicago could actually put together enough salary with expiring deals and non guaranteed deals to acquire Melo and take back JR Smith. I'd say that scenario would benefit Knicks more so.

That's it. Chicago shouldn't even be an option because they're way too cheap and the fit is bad. The fit in Houston is bad also. He should re sign in New York. The only other options should be looking into what the Miami situation is, and if he wants to waste 2 years and then start over the Lakers.

LaLa isnt going to Houston or Dallas.
It balls down to NY, LA and slim chance Chi.
If you think the Zen is going to do a S & T and keep whatever team that wants him in tack you are sadly and ridiculously dimwitted. Whichever team he decides will pay an extremely heavy price.

Lakers:rockon: Get it done Mitch:cheers:
That or he stays in NY id say.. Im sure Bulls fans think hes a perfect fit, but itll be the same as on the Knicks for him, iso melo, no one else can score. Heat will still own them forever...
+1 I doubt Lala would want to go to houston or dallas either. He would be a crazy addition in Dallas, would be favourites in the West imo..

If he thinks Kobe or Rose return healthy. It's a very big possibility. 3rd choice would be the Heat. But if some how Phil get Gasol for 5 mil. Then i can see him returning to the Knicks. DALLAS or Houston. It be for the money. Tax relief.. Don't know the rules, but i can see Phil pulling strings. Sending Melo to Laker's for Gasol Randle maybe Nash expiring. And draft picks in a three team trade. That way he don't lose Melo for nothing. And sending the Knicks to the finals.

I don't care what they said. I'm a Knick fan, i can give you chapter and verse of things they've said that were logical and they never did them. The Bulls if you look at them they've gone out of their way to make sure they didn't pay tax. They traded Deng. He was expiring. You can see trade deadlines they needed to shore up the bench and didn't. You can see them jerking Thibs around for his contract before they finally realized they had no choice. I'm glad you have a quote that the Bulls will spend, I'll believe it when I see it. Talk means nothing.

Everyone knows the bulls are cheap bastards.. They havnt had a bench in years, shit they wouldn't even give nate $2m per after he won them a series:lol
And yeah they gave deng away!
I see almost zero chance of melo going to Chicago, why would he? Thibs will run them into the ground during reg season, no other scorers so melo iso all day, and the heat will own them in the playoffs...
Would take a miracle to get him in LA, I'd say he's just jerking everyone around for a bit of attention and seeing what Phil can put in place.. He'll be taking his max in NY

But seriously, I'm surprised Clippers aren't on his list as a sign and trade possibility.

As for Rockets and Bulls, NEITHER team has to do a sign and trade to get Melo. Bulls can amnesty Boozer (which even cheap Bulls owners would realize its a good idea), and Rockets already have deals for Asik and Lin in place....so Knicks could easily be shut out....
