They tend to stay around the 65M mark in salaries... Salary cap raised next year maybe they might shop around the 70M-75M... If lucky...
That gives them 12M-20M to spend
Top priority boris diaw
Then party mills
Could they possibly attracted another very good player? They may have the cap space to do so...

Honestly they should retain Diaw & Mills and call it a day.
Their really isn't a guy out there worth signing to a multi year deal with the MLE that fits what they do and would get 20 MPG.

Only Pau Gasol would fit them for a smaller sallery than he can earn on the market.
I assume they're gonna start Duncan and Tiago again for defensive reasons. So a Diaw - Gasol front court along with Manu would give them an insane level of playmaking off the bench

Gasol's not going to take the MLE and he won't be a bench player.

the spurs are stacked in the sense that they have a good player at every position that buys into the system, maybe get an explosive wing player?

For those curious, here's how the Spurs are positioned going forwards.
This summer we have no room to do anything but use the MLE. Whatever cap space we have will be eaten up by re-signing Diaw and Mills. We won't use the MLE (or at least not use it for a multi year deal) because of our possible 2015 cap situation described as follows.
For the summer of 2015. a number of quality free agents will become unrestricted. Aldrige, Love and Marc Gasol to name but three, there's still a possibility Bosh and/or Lebron might be available.
The Spurs only have Splitter on the books for that year, but will likely have Mills and Diaw also, at around $10m combined. They will also re-sign Parker to a long term deal, I guess starting around $14m/year. We'd also re-sign Green around MLE-level money, say $5m.
It gets really interesting with Leonard. He will likely command max money in restricted free agency, which the Spurs would match. However if the front office convinced him not to sign an offer sheet so they can go after a free agent, his cap hold will only be $7.25m (250% prev. salary). That means for free agency purposes Spurs would be at...
Parker $14m
Splitter $8.5m
Diaw $6m
Green $5m
Mills $4m
Kawhi $7.25m (cap hold)
Anderson $1m
With a projected $66.5m cap (per Larry Coon), that would give the Spurs $20m in cap space for the summer of 2014.
Basically the Spurs could be in a very strong position next year, so they won't even think about signing any major player this summer.

Any of Deng/Gasol/Monroe if they want to do that.
Shaun Livingston would be cool too.

I say no to Deng. He's going to command $12-$14 million next season and he's still in the middle of his prime at SF. Leonard already owns that position.
Players I feel they should look at...
Aaron Craft
He went undrafted. I think if he still wants to play basketball the Spurs should work him out. He's a hard worker and doesn't play outside of his role. Perfect systems guy.
Shaun Livingston
If they lose Patty Mills, Livingston would be an excellent replacement.
Kirk Hinrich
Again, if they lose Patty Mills again, I think he's a good replacement.
Pau Gasol
I don't think he's going to command top dollar anymore, but he's still a great offensive threat and he will cost a little money. They could limit his minutes and have Gasol out there mostly when Duncan isn't. Or have them out there at the same time. It gives them so many options for front court lineups since both Duncan and Gasol can both player center and power forward.
Ramon Sessions
Again, if they lose Mills another decent replacement.
...the one that intrigues me the most is Gasol. If they could somehow retain Mills/Diaw their lineups would look something like this...
Splitter/Gasol
Duncan/Diaw
Leonard/Bellinelli
Green/Ginobli
Parker/Mills
...that's a pretty good second unit. And they have a lot of options of what to run for their front court lineup to give Duncan rests. And I think this gives Gasol the best chance to get one last ring before he's on a bench role permanently.

Good grief. That second unit would probably have a chance at making the playoffs on its own. Definitely if they were in the East.

I'm not sure the Spurs will be able to sign any big name FA's, especially once Duncan and Pop are gone. They'll probably end up tanking for a few seasons once the big 4 move on.
As for this season, if they bring back Mills and Diaw I think they're good to go. Would be nice if they could get another rebounding, rim protecting big on the roster.
I don't see the sense in Gasol. Spurs need a stretch 4 to replace Bonner. We've seen the problems with Duncan/Splitter and spacing in the OKC and MIA series - Gasol would only compound that problem. I'm hoping Austin Daye is the solution. Spurs need to save their money to match on Leonard - can't see them getting any decent stretch 4 - bigs are SO expensive.

Paul Pierce, Pau Gasol, Greg Monroe come to mind.

Yea, I don't know the logistics of it, but if it's possible to get something close to that roster with adding Gasol, I think you go for it. Gasol and Duncan can keep each other healthy by getting limited minutes, but not by taking away any production. Gasol is a decent passer as well. I think it's a big long shot for him to land there. I would imagine New York seems ideal if he doesn't go back to the Lakers becuase of Phil Jackson being there, but if I'm personally Gasol, and money isn't a big issue and I want a ring while I'm still product I have to be looking at the Spurs system.

That's why they should resign Diaw. That's the role he played in the playoffs was a stretch 4 when Duncan or Splitter was out there. I still love the Gasol ideal. Plus it's not like Gasol can't shoot. He's a better mid-range shooter than Duncan. He shot the 16 footer last year at a 45% clip.

What? The cap will be 62.5 mill this year.
