'99 Lakers vs Warriors, Lakers trailing BIG most of the game, Shaq fouls out, Jordan sitting in the crowd spectating...

Afrobe hits two of the clutches shots i've ever seen. Funny how his career is defined by those two, winning without Shaq, while chasing Mike's greatness.

you can literally see the passing of the torch. quite shakespearean

Frobe was electrifying, the first day i saw him on my television I knew i had to upgrade to high def cause the screen wasn't doing this man justice. his fine features, high cheekbone, chiseled jaw. he was beautiful in the distinct way that young athletes tend to be, a perfect balance of sinewy and power. body retaining the last grace of youth yet morphing into the vignette of a man right in front of our eyes.

Except Jordan didn't pass the flaming torch to Kobe. Kobe ripped it out of his dead, bloody fingers.

In the locker room after the game, buddy. A torch in the middle of the game is a fire hazard, buddy.

Had to look up that '99 Warriors team on BBR because there were quite a few "I forgot he played for the Warriors" or "I forgot all about that guy" moments."

Starks led the team in scoring, at 13.8 PPG, with a sparkling FG% of 37%.

Fascinating choice!

If I may, I'd like to present my own submission to the topic at hand. Here was have a clip of young Kobe giving us a taste of his signature footwork & shot selection:

http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view/416276/bryant-airball-o.gif

Look at the gusto with which Baby Mamba took that shot (one of FOUR such in overtime!). We can even see the look of amazement on his coach's face, a look we'd come to appreciate down the line.

So even though Kobe had not, at the time of that clip, begun his run (http://oi62.tinypic.com/2chmc8x.jpg) of PER (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324201)™ titles, we can see that he already had the innate fearlessness of a chucker. Truly a treasure!

Warmest regards,

Ayotunde Ndiaye

Well, nothing against Kobe but you have to be particularly creative to put a positive spin on 4 airballs.

Or you have to be particularly butthurt to bring up something that happened to him as an 18 year old rookie right out of highschool in order to discredit him.

All while ignoring the fact that an 18 year old highschooler had more balls to take clutch shots than a 26 year old LeBron in his prime did.
