View Full Version : who do the Heat need to sign in order to beat the Spurs next year?
They have 55 or 56 million in cap space money thanks to the Big 3 and Haslem opting out.
Do they spend it all on one player like Melo?
Do they spend it on two key players to boost their weakest positions like Lowry and Gortat?
Do they spend it on multiple players in order to upgrade their whole bench?
:confusedshrug:
Fire spolestra.
No cap necessary.

Adding Melo would be an absolute embarrassment to LeBron, and Wade. Do they really need more top heavy, elite East All Star caliber talent? They have the best player in the game. Let Bosh walk. Bolster the rest of the roster with youth, athleticism, size, shooters and depth. Then they could beat the Spurs.

Melo isn't the answer, spread the money out over 2-3 quality role players, Birdman needs to come back, have a look at Monroe????

almost as embarrassing as needing the best SF on your team (with goat level defense), the best rebounder/defender and the GOAT coach
More alternatives, get bigger, younger.

Marvin Williams
Xavier Henry
Jordan Hill
That is all, nothing crazy.

MJ didn't recruit those guys, or pick which team to play on. He basically helped mold that SF, with GOAT level defense and just played for the team that drafted him ... plus he was past his prime at that point.
MJ wasn't chasing rings as a Free Agent from '88 - '93.
:oldlol:
LeBron literally picked his team a few years ago, and then his fans have the nerve to complain about it? Guy made his own bed, he needs to lay in it. But given his cowardly nature, he'll feel the compulsive nature to stack the deck.

Sign Napier.
Fill out roster with vet min players.
Sign Pop.
Beat Spurs handily.

You know the big 3 take 45-50 of that right? Are you a circa 2010 fan?

A couple of actual big men. Reggie Evans would actually be a nice fit for them.
Jordan Hill, though he'll be retained by the Lakers imo. Elton Brand, Chris Kaman, Emeka Okafor all could be had for the BAE or even the minimum.
Get Gortat somehow.
Keep the Big Three of course. Get a backup SG and watch Wade's minutes like SAS does with Emmanuel Ginobili.

Considering what the Spurs have looked like the season after winning a championship..........not a damn thing.

We lost because we played a young energized hungry team with a great coach. It was LeBron vs the Spurs' defense on offense, and the defense was old and tired. They need a more balanced younger team where they can execute their defensive game plan better. The Spurs' have a great offense, but the Heat's defense made the Spurs look God like more than they actually are. The defense was that bad. They had old tired legs. That is why going after Melo is a mistake.

They were 28 seconds from winning last year and came back and won this year - that's as close to repeating as possible. Some just won't acknowledge how brutal the West is and how much luck/injuries play a role.
Heat need a decent rebounding big and younger role players on the perimeter. The recipe for winning with old vets doesn't work in the new NBA (up and down style) and they need fresh young legs to help carry them through the regular season. They don't have to be great - e.g. Bellineli was terrible in the playoffs but he helped carry them in the rs and saved Manu's legs for the playoffs.
Wade needs to re-invent his game - add a 3pt shot and improve his jump shot.
Spo needs to adjust more - stop with the mantra that this is who we are and what we do (smacks of arrogance) - that if they do what they're supposed to do, they'll win. They're no longer that much better than everyone else. He should have looked at the DAL series and tried man-to-man defense and stopped the swarming defense - that just played into SA's ball movement. But I can see how difficult it would be to change in the Finals after spending 4 years playing defense that way.

I think Riley should certainly give a serious look at Jordan Hill. I feel like he might fetch more than they'll be willing to offer him though from other suitors.

If he opts out from New Orleans sign Anthony Morrow. Start him at the 2. Bring Wade in like SAS does Manu.
Sign Emeka, Birdman,
Look at Patrick Peterson, hill, even Ed Davis as a solid young big who can play D and get out on the break with Lebron and Napier.
I think they should spend on a guy like Lowry but use the money to develop the players from 4 to 8 that are solid rotational players who aren't so old they break down before the playoffs
