What was Kobe doing his first few seasons btw?

Cause during Kobe's rookie season, as Kobe sat on the bench...... a 33 year old MJ was putting up 30 ppg on 48% shooting. That was 1996.

A rookie showing more skill (look at the footwork, handles and jumper), composure and smarts than the vast majority of players in their prime  :applause:

LeBron was given the keys to his kingdom from day 1, because of the success of players like Garnet and Kobe.

Teams were not into drafting high school players back then, it was looked at as a huge risk, and rarely ever did they start. GMs from Kobe's draft were afraid if they picked a high school kid in the lottery, they'd lose their job. but you know that...

Forget stats.

If anybody saw him play and threw out the stats sheet (or at least keeping track) it would be obvious that he's on a different level than most.

Stats can be deceiving at times, best way to analyze a player is by watching him play. Only player today that displays this level of all around skill is Kobe.

And this is ROOKIE MJ we're talking about.

Stats from Jordan's rookie season, ROOKIE SEASON!

The speed with which he recognizes the trap coming at the 19 second mark and executes a lightning reverse dribble to escape into a smooth double pump J is amazing. The whole sequence is just so quick - he had such tremendous speed.

That's shit that you can't teach.

It has to be learned through experience. Mj was one of the few that were doing this at an early stage of their career, with this level of consistency.

Tim Duncan rookie season: 21/12/3/3 on 55% shooting
...but the biggest piece: on an actual winning team.
