Wow, BKN gets some draft picks and can bring in Lionel Hollins. Nicely gotten rid of that idiot.:applause:
I really feel for Larry Drew. He was once an assistant on the Nets when Kidd was playing there. Other NBA coaches probably hate Kidd right now.
To be fair, Drew is a complete garbage coach and had no business holding a HC position.
That being said, **** Kidd, he's a dick, wish nothing but the worst for him and the FO that just hired him. Would be pissed if I were a Bucks fan.

Jason Kidd is the ultimate piece of shit. For him to let his ego and hunger for power get in the way of the ultimate prize. Popovich has been around for decades and is fine with being a head coach. Jason Kidd was only here for a year and wanted to move very high in upper management already.

Not sure Pop is the best example. Wasn't he GM and then hired himself as coach?
I lost total respect for Kidd. What a bitch move. The Nets will be better off with Lionel Hollins (I hope he get's the job, dude deserves it).

maybe I'm missing parts to this storry but is Kidd a better coach than Drew? if so, why the complaining? :wtf:
when there's better opportunity ahead of you, especially with mutual interest...wouldn't you choose the better opportunity? in essence, the Bucks having Kidd saves them money as he's holding two positions now.
i think it's pretty high uproar for no real reason...unless there's something I'm completing missing on this. besides they're the Bucks, the team's irrelevant! :D

I agree it's weird that those two haven't had a job offer (I actually haven't heard much of Karl wanting a new job but he's always been on bad terms with his teams' FO/ownership as well as a lot of his stars).
It's nice to see some new blood in the coaching world though. It's really awful seeing the same guys over and over again and truthfully kind of boring. Hopefully these new guys bring some new styles into the game.

Can someone explain why Jason Kidd is trying to leave the Nets? While they're definitely a bit older, they are nowhere near the Bucks in terms of record.
While drafting Parker was nice, that alone shouldn't be a reason for Kidd to bounce.
Also, is KG not going to acknowledge Kidd during warm-ups now as well?

I said during the year, brooklyn nets are run european-style. More so,Italian style.
And I am quite right bout it. The russians are not patient, and they expect immediate results..or else they will let go of the coach like that.
So they will hire hollins ? Next year we will be discussing their new coach.:oldlol:

I think because with the bucks, kidd will be given more time..and he will have less pressure.
The brooklyn nets coaching job is the toughest job out of any nba team, due to its owners.
Mark my words, if brooklyn had the talent miami had in 2011...spoelstra would have been fired the minute the heat were 9 - 8 at the start... if not then, he would have been fired for losing to dallas in the finals.

You can add Sloan to the list. Larry Brown is busy atm, but you could add him as no-longer-in-NBA one of the best coaches of All-time.
Rookie coaches with zero experience getting absurd money is really weird trend.

The short version is that Jason Kidd wanted Brook Lopez traded and Deron Williams traded. Billy King did not want to trade Brook and agreed to trade Deron but failed to find any suitors for him. This lack of execution forced Kidd to believe that he could do a much better job than King and try to oust King by going straight to upper management.

This reminds me of when Kidd told Mark Cuban he was going to NY to recruit Deron Williams to the Mavs so he could be a 20 minute+ back up for his final playing years and instead went straight to the Knicks to sign a 3 year deal to be their starter.

Larry Drew may not be a good coach, but the man was sitting up there on the podium with Hammond and Jabari Parker on Friday, introducing Jabari to the media. Guess where the Bucks owners were on Friday? Interviewing Kidd in New York.

I get that, but I'm confident in our ownership. From all indications, they're assholes themselves. Shipped Drew's ass out without a peep. If Kidd oversteps his boundaries, I doubt they'd have a problem doing the same for him. As of right now, I'm not going to rip Kidd before he's done a single thing in his new position. He'd have to be legitimately insane to try that same power play he tried with the Nets again, I'm not going to blindly accept that he will.

Dude showed up for the press conference welcoming Jabari to the Bucks IN A T-SHIRT. Looked like someone had fed his him dog. If he didn't know he was on his way out he was so horrifically unprofessional it would have been understandable to fire him for that alone.
But then you have his 15-67 record. And his unwillingness to play the youth, choosing to go with expiring player Jeff Adrien (who was only on the team as a way for Milw to dump salary) over Giannis, Henson, so its really not hard to find reasons to get him gone.

Poor Bucks...
It's tough to judge how Kidd will do as the head coach for the Bucks, considering that this team is on the other end of the spectrum relative to the Nets. Who knows? Maybe Kidd works better with a younger squad than a veteran one. Or maybe he works better with a small-market team with less spotlight and pressure than Brooklyn. Or maybe both? Again, it's not like Kidd was a terrible coach anyway for the Nets. He's still young and learning. I like this for the Bucks, because there's honestly nothing for them to lose.

the fact is that kidd was a good coach for the nets... maybe even a very good coach, or at least one with bunches of upside. that ain't chopped liver.
he was one of the smartest players to ever play the game and very few players can say they accomplished more than him. that probably works best on a team which is rebuilding, flexible and with good future assets, like the bucks.
the brooklyn experiment of last year was pretty much doomed to underachieve because of aging / overrated players and the big lopez injury. very few coaches could have turned that mess around after that horrible start, but credit to kidd for doing so.
but eventually (maybe even very soon) you're going to have to appease his needs and his ego and deal with his lack of life judgement. at that time i see you guys pulling the plug, with a very good chance that kidd never coaches again. not that you guys will likely care at that point lol.

This pretty much sums up my reasoning for holding off on judgement. We're never going to be a good team until we take chances, playing it safe in this league will not get you anywhere. His ceiling as a coach is high, and if we stood tall about giving him strictly the HC job and nothing more, I like our chances of keeping it that way.

According to a New York Post report, Kidd, still coach of the Nets at the time, wanted to trade Brook Lopez and Mirza Teletovic to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Larry Sanders and Ersan Ilyasova after Brooklyn was eliminated by the Heat in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
Looking at this now, it appears Kidd was planning on bolting Brooklyn for Milwaukee all along. Why else would he want to trade Lopez, who when healthy is one of the best centers in the NBA and the most talented Nets player, along with Teletovic who is a sharp-shooter from deep for Larry Sanders who preaches about marijuana all day long, and Ersan Ilyasova who

I actually like the move for the Bucks. Bucks are a small market team and bringing a coach with a HOF background gives the team some marketability. Bucks aren't expected to do much and Kidd can grow and develop as a coach.
Unfortunately the previous management have signed some bad contracts. Ilyasova, Mayo, Zaza, even Sanders. Kidd could have recruited some big names to Milwaukee.

But out with the old , in with the new... that being new ownership and Kidd getting what he wanted all along in Jersy , control of team and player direction.
So he will be working with Hammond ...
Questions is how will he tailer the team :confusedshrug:
Would he guide it like his playing days NET team that went the finals twice , or his old Suns days ????
It will be entertaining

Jason Kidd is the ultimate piece of shit. For him to let his ego and hunger for power get in the way of the ultimate prize. Popovich has been around for decades and is fine with being a head coach. Jason Kidd was only here for a year and wanted to move very high in upper management already.

Yes. Highest ceiling in the draft, only one that comes close is Nerlens.

But to be fair, Giannis is looking at his ceiling through a telescope based on where he is at now.

well, his wife was a psychopath. let's not forget that.
funny thing about kidd (and some other players)-- they play through dreadful injuries and terrible teams, display awesome BBIQ and team spirit, YET get picked apart for the most minor of shit.
aw, poor babies... did he fake a migraine once? no doctor ever reported on it, but everyone 'knows' what happened, right? and cupgate?? what a dreadful mark upon the NBA's legacy, right? ron artest is still allowed to play in the lague after going ballistic upon fans, but LET'S NEVER FORGET CUPGATE.
the drunk driving thing... yea, certainly... but i notice you guys like to focus on the miniscule for some reason.

if it had been Donald Sterling, he may have been upset with the 2 second rounders that came with Kidd leaving.

LOL
I will want to bring this thread back in , in a couple years when a team that had under 20 wins for the season, makes the playoffs two years later with Kidd at the helm.
He is the first of the player transition coach player to transition.
Based on Nets thinking last year they were going to contend with a dinasaur' roster - having Kidd on board instead of a crop of coachs that included Stan ,Gondy' / Karl and others ..... it will be interesting how far he can mold this young roster.
time will tell.

exactly
jason kidd is always a bit unstable, but he's still JASON KIDD. if i was prokhy i would have admitted to myself "these superstars always want their way... it's the price of the game. so let's work from there."
it's how you manage the PITA's like lebron, dwight, kidd, kobe, melo, etc that shows how much you understand this principle. not everyone can be tim-awesome-duncan and co... most of the time they're just NOT.

Yeah, who cares about that miniscule stuff like drunk driving, wife beating, or backstabbing your own front office in your first season on the bench.
Focus on the actual important stuff, like how he massively underperformed with one of the most expensive rosters in the NBA.

wife beating... look up what actually happened and research just how nucking futs joumana was.
expensive roster... does anyone REALLY THINK it would be able to beat the lebrons and then the spurs, especially with the most important player out for the season?
too much work to read and understand, eh?

Bucks took a step back. They draft Parker (great move) then they bring in a coach that is unwarranted, that got coaches fired in the past, that makes ludicrous requests because he didn't get what other first year coaches got a year after he got his job.
I think everyone has this wrong. He is looking 3-5 years out at the barron future that is the Nets and wanted out. I'm not certain Red Auerbach could coach the 15/16 Nets to a .333 record.
This idea that he overplayed his hand when he has been begging for an infusion of youth, asking for a new GM, etc since before Edens was ever pondering the Bucks.
You hitch your way to advancement in companies and technologies with evident potential. Thats the Bucks.

in the end, kidd is most certainly a snake and an impatient egoist, but there is simply no getting around it-- he's still JASON KIDD... one of the most brilliant bball minds, ever. his dickish behavior is never going to change that, unfortunately.
in the end, this pretty much comes down to BILLY KING. he absolutely destroyed the next few years in order to make a cheap splash in BK.
i mean, when you're ready to sell the store in order to get ultra-talented morons like carmelo anthony and dwight howard, that should be your first clue.
king offered FOUR #1 picks at one point for mega-PITA dwight howard.

I can't wait to bump this thread down the road when Kidd develops into a good coach in this league. He can be as much of a dick as possible, but he clearly has high potential as a head coach, and is a great basketball mind to talk to for super young prospects like Jabari and Giannis.

Kidd is the type of guy to have a falling out than sit around and baby sit. It will happen. It's just a matter of when.

I can't decide which franchise is shittier, the Bucks or Knicks. :oldlol: At least the Knicks have the whole "mecca of basketball" thing going on, not to mention the hype...the bright lights.
What do the Bucks have? A shit coach to compliment their shit players.

The bucks are so shitty, they make my lakers look like gods
I can't even right now with this situation...
The Nets absolutely robbed the Bucks with this deal. Jason Kidd did absolutely nothing to convince me that he deserves to be an NBA coach, let alone one that a team would give up two second rounders for.
Nets should go grab Hollins, Marc Jackson, ect. Almost anyone with previous NBA coaching experience is a better option than Jason Kidd...
