I'd put either the Knicks, the Pistons or the Sixers, maybe the Blazers over the Heat.

There are a ton of teams better than the knicks.

Probably.

Both teams have an argument, but if you consider 4 straight finals and the second longest streak in history, I would give the edge to the Heat.

It's close though. The Pistons had longer sustained excellence which has to count for something.

The 76'ers and Rockets are close too. Probably the 7'th and 8'th best ever.

franchise isn't just defined by the rings. history, fan support, location, profitability etc all factor into it.

If Dolan wants to sellt he knicks, he can get 6 billion easily

Miami heat? won't even break 2

I say no....but for an expansion team, I'd say they've done pretty damn good.

Top 7 at worst, IMO.

Definitely have more than an argument for Top 5 all-time.

Knicks and Blazers don't have a case over the Heat. Sixers and Pistons do; you can argue for either side.

In the modern era, I'd put them up there with the Celtics and the Spurs. Only behind Bulls and the Lakers

Heat are definitely one of tha worse for winning asterisks for titles. They deserved none of them:no:. I cant respect a con artist franchise like that:coleman: ever since 2006.

I could make a case for Miami in the top 5.

I really want to know how you rank them because I remember getting into an argument awhile back over putting the Spurs above the Sixers. I know that a big factor in ranking franchises is how they've stayed relevant historically and fanbase loyalty. Someone made a case that the Bulls legacy is really just The Jordan Legacy, and it's not really indicative of how great the franchise is. Same with Spurs/Duncan. Meanwhile, the Lakers, Celtics, and Sixers have all had numerous teams with iconic stars that were in contention for the title "face of the league" (Magic/Bird/West/Iverson/Dr. J/Wilt/Russell/etc.).

Pretty much how I have it, with somethings that could interchange. If it's tiers, it would look like:

Tier 1

Lakers, Celtics

Tier 2

Spurs, Bulls

Tier 3

Sixers, Pistons, Heat

Could change after some years. More or less it was my best attempt at the time. Still working on it. This is easier to than a player list because everything is more logical.

Their in the discussion, without question. And the Heat are without question the greatest and most successful expansion franchise.

Riley built it. Dat tampering by Micky Arison back in 95.

I think there should be a guideline as to how many seasons minimum in the league history before being compared or being considered to be in the top all time rank.

as for modern history, I believe so

Lol SMH, what did the knicks to become successful franchise?! The only thing I can think of his that they play in the so called "Mecca" and brings good revenue. Last year was the first they made it out of the 1st round in god knows how long :facepalm

Given that they are a pretty recent addition to the league relatively speaking, they have indeed been pretty good over their 25-30 years.

Knicks are not Top 5.

Arguably Top 10 at best.
