Put Kobe on the Wolves from 2000-07. How many titles would they win together? Also put T-Mac on the Lakers to make it more fair.

Assuming they get along well enough, at least 3.

This two are too intense, but the spurs might have given them a run, but they win at least 3.

They would get along perfectly to be honest.

4-6 rings in that span.

They would lose to the Pistons in 04 or 05 if they made it that far.

The Lakers would probably win 2 titles before then.

06 and 07 seem winnable enough.

1 -3 titles.

00: no (Lakers win)
01: probably not (Lakers win)
02: no way (Lakers win)
03: nope (Spurs win)
04: nope (Pistons or Lakers win)

I'm not sure if they beat the Spurs in 05 (Duncan was either better or just as good as Garnett, Manu was incredible, great bench), and I have no idea about 06 or 07.

Shaq was definitely better than Garnett from 00-03, and the Lakers had way better coaching and support. I don't think T-Mac does what Kobe did in the 04 Finals, but the Pistons were incredible also. Like I said, I'm not sure about 06 or 07. They probably have a better shot in 06.

With T-Mac they would. They don't go 16-1 in 01, but they still win. 02 is close, I admit.

Care to question the merits of the actual post? How is Kobe, Garnett and a bunch of scrubs beating Shaq, T-Mac, Phil and some fine role players? Also, Kobe had our hearts in 99 and 03? Are you challenged?

Three definites:

Blazers win in 2000
Kings win in 2002
Wolves win in 2004

Because KG almost did that alone.

did you watch prime KG? guy was doing scary stuff in the playoffs, those lakers team were incredibly weak at the 4, KG would chew them up and there was no way shaq could guard KG. Tmac is what he is, guy always came up short.

Kobe would KG would be competitive every single from 2001 until 2011

In 04 he did, and I should probably edit that one and give them a chance. But he still does what he does in the Finals. The Cassell-Kobe-Sprewell combo is a little hard to workout as well. It kinda becomes redundant.

That's true. t Mac was awesome but he could never even get out of a first round. No way they beat kobe and KG

Of course I did. Guy was a beast.

But Shaq > KG. Kobe > T-Mac. Phil > whoever coaches the Wolves. Lakers role players > Wolves role players.

The do probably win in 04, if Kobe doesn't have his collapse. But I just can't see them winning in 00, 01 or 02 with Shaq's dominance, or in 03 with Duncan's. 04-07 is up for grabs, but I think the 05 Spurs would win that matchup, especially with Manu's incredible play. :confusedshrug:

another thing would be it would kind of be rock paper scissors between Spurs, Lakers, and Timberwolves in this hypothetical

Spurs would beat lakers with shaq and tmac. Duncan always had shaq's heart and Lakers needed every inch of kobe's histrionics to beat spurs every year.

But Wolves with Kobe would beat Spurs.

So depends ont eh playoff matchups, wolves might never even need to play the lakers

That's true. They do probably beat the Spurs in 04. Not in 03 though, and 05 is a tough one. Neither Kobe nor KG played in the Playoffs, and Manu was on another level. Add Pop's coaching and the bench, and I just don't see the Wolves winning there.

T-Mac is hard as well. He did come up short, but he had shitty help -- even for the East.

00: Blazers win title. Kobe was better than T-Mac and saved them in game 7.
01: Lakers for sure win
02: Kings or Lakers win...
03: Wolves win (assuming Dirk still gets hurt...if Dirk is healthy...Mavs win)
04: Pistons win, but Wolves make the finals
05: Spurs win (best version of the team)
06: Heat win
07: Wolves win

So I'd say two titles....although both are hardly locks. The Spurs in 03 and 07 could have easily beat them as well...

Totally forgot the Blazers in 00 - agreed.

I'd still give the Lakers the edge in 02.

I really don't see the Wolves in 03. Shaq was better than Garnett in 03 imo, but I can't really comment on the Wolves' bench and role players; I hardly watched them. But we can't forget about Phil here. The Spurs were 2-1 up against the Mavs with Dirk playing. I think the two of us disagree on that one.

I agree with your other picks.

People saying lakers win in 01 for sure may be forgetting that the reason that lakers team was so unbeatable was Kobe's play, not shaqs. Shaq was in the same level as the other 3 championship teams, but in 01 Kobe was on another level than he was in the previous two and that's what made them that good... If he took that play to the wolves with kg instead... It's a toss up at best. 01 Kobe is destroying any wing player opposite him

Assuming a solid supporting cast around them, there's no way they remain ringless. I'm going to say they'll net 2-3 rings in that decade.

That's a dynasty waiting to happen! In terms of scoring, there would be no clash of egos like Kobe and Shaq. KG is an alpha dog, but wasn't the killer at PF like Dirk, Malone, or Barkley. KG's thing was being an epic all around players on both sides of the rock WHILE still giving u 25 a night. Putting him with Kobe would give u so much versatility on both sides of the ball. In terms of the total package and versatility, Kobe-KG would go down as the greatest perimeter-big man tandem of all time.
