...you are the one overrating him now and underrating Elton Brand. Elton was a great player before the injury, a max type star player.

So he'll be a 25/10 player with good defense and could take a mediocre team into the playoffs at his peak ?

Okay.

D-Rose

nothing more laker fans need to quit overrating him.
Did you not see Brand in his prime? He was incredible. 20/10 rookie year right?

no pun intended
06-30-2014, 11:32 PM
OP has no idea that he just rated Randle above everyone else on this forum.

Big Elton was a great player at his peak

but undersized players tend to have shorter primes

Elton Brand peaked at 25/10/2.6 on 53% shooting. I'll take it.

Getting Elton Brand with the 7th pick.

Doesn't sound too bad in my opinion. :oldlol:

I don't think suggesting Randle can be as good as Brand is overrating him at all. :confusedshrug:

Generally, I have not seen this anywhere on ISH.

He's considered an NBA ready player. He has the body, the attitude. He can be an all star. He'll be in the race for ROY if LA sucks and he starts.

No one I've heard said he is more than a "potential all star".

Elton Brand is only underrated because people look at his tenure with Teams as proof of his mediocrity , instead of actual on court production.

Plus , unlike Chris Webber he was never on a Team that was considered a true contender for the Championship.

I think he just made some bad business decisions in Free Agency, pertaining to where he should play etc. Regardless though , I think he was about the paychecks more than anything.

You never really saw that consistent hunger from Elton Brand, he was the type of guy who would drop numbers and not give a **** about actually winning anything in the long run.

It is if we are talking about Brand in his prime. Elton's mid post to mid range shot was absolute money and it's what opened up his offensive game in 2005. Randle can't shoot worth a shit, period. I suppose he could be like the 2002 Clippers Brand who was a pure bruiser and averaged 18.2ppg and 11.6rpg. Randle will never be as good as Brand was defensively either and I don't consider Brand undersized like Randle is as he has really long arms that make up for any height he is giving up.

Heavincent
06-30-2014, 11:58 PM
So Randle is gonna have a 20/10 rookie season like Brand did?

Milbuck
06-30-2014, 11:59 PM
Brand was great defensively, dude had a giant 7'6" wingspan and was a legit shot blocker and defensive anchor. You can just about count on Randle to be a shit defender his first couple years, and max out at average - and that's only if he busts his ass working towards it. This isn't being pessimistic, it's just the truth. Not only is he a bit short, but he has a really disadvantageous wingspan and standing reach for his position. I think he's really gonna struggle to guard NBA 4s. Offensively he could be great, he's got a ton of game there no doubt. But the Brand comparisons are way off base.

haha OP's a dumb fvcking jackass.

GimmeThat
07-01-2014, 12:12 AM
Hasn't people been comparing him to Zach Randolph?

I think maybe the difference will be whether or not Randle has the weight to do the shoulder power move down low.

Brand became more of a perimeter player because of injury later on in his career, but as for his peak, top 15 in the league.

what's the difference between Al Jefferson and Zach Randolph though?

07-01-2014, 02:34 AM
OP's attempt backfired greatly.

If Randle can sniff a prime Elton Brand, than the Lakers got a huge steal.

Brand was a phenomenal defender and rebounder, despite his height and lack of athleticism, was a great low post scorer and is one of the premier two way players of the 2000s. He just didn't have a winning mentality, which is why idiots like the OP will continue to underrate him.

Indeed it is.

In the near future, don't comment on players you haven't watched or at the very least, looked up their stats.

Or, you know, you could just admit you have no f***ing clue what you're talking about and admit this thread was really, really stupid.

But hey, looking up Elton Brand on BBR and trying to save face seems to be working, so maybe just stick with that for now.

Elton Brand was a much better player than Julius Randle in College. The guy averaged 20/12 in his rookie season.

blacknapalm
07-01-2014, 06:04 AM
comparison doesn't even really make sense. stylistically, they're different players. i can't ever see randle being the defensive difference maker that brand was. a prime brand was a problem.

randle is more in the mold of z-bo, david lee, etc. if he can reach those levels then lakers made a solid pick

Elton Brand had that unreal wingspan which helped him on a lot especially on D. Julius Randle doesn't have that and will never be an elite defender. best we can hope for is a black Kevin Love type player if he develops a 3 point shot.

I couldn't consider brand an undersized player. Dude just had a short neck. Freak wingspan and good weight he was a legit center when he had to be.
