I don't understand why LBJ would take a 1-2 year deal...why not just take the max for 5 years and have opt outs at 1 and 2 years if he decides....like, why leave that kind of security on the table?

I wouldn't fault LeBron for wanting the max (he's the only one who showed up in the Finals), but it's gonna make it a lot harder to fix this team.

Don't get me wrong, they ran into a dominant SA squad (and with the way they were hitting shots and passes, it makes it an even harder matchup), but I do think they need more consistent 3pt shooting and defense.

I dont see the fascination of Gortat for the Heat. Its not like he's a good defender. He can hit the J but cant extend it to 3, which is the reason why Bosh is so effective at the 5 spot anyway.

For arguments sake lets say the heat signs him, then Hibbert can stay in the lane and David West dont need to be chasing Ray Allen

ok...and who is more valued as far as impact on the floor, not to mention available for a full 82 game season? Wade is on brittle knees, and more of a liability than Bosh. as for him being drafted by the Heat, Heat TEAM first...not Wade then the Heat.

@daldridgetnt 53s
Agent Henry Thomas, on report clients Bosh & Wade will take $12M/per & $11M/per, respectively: "all the BS you are reading is just that."

Also, Tim Reynolds an AP reporter very plugged in with the Heat said it ain't true either.

Well if that's the case then you can say the same thing about every other team with a traditional 4&5 lineup. That's what made Miami so good is because they made you play their own way.

Also I don't think Gortat & Bosh together will fit their trapping D philosophy.

...That is the case with other teams though. San Antonio starts Tiago and Duncan, but knows damn well that Diaw and Duncan is the better lineup. OKC starts Ibaka and Perkins, but takes out Perkins in their best lineups.

Small ball league. But you cant always be small like Miami usually is.

Bosh and Chris Anderson worked well enough. Chris Anderson is just too old to play a lot of minutes.

My point is that wade shouldn't be making more than either because he is less valued to the team...just bcuz he was drafted by the Heat doesn't make him worth more at all.

I don't know much about this situation, but if this is true, could they not be gunning for Lowry this summer if they open up roughly $12M in space? I know he had a good thing going on in Toronto, but if money is nearly equal, why not consider MIA due to much better tax situation and likelihood of titles? They could use BAE/MLE to target guys like PJ Tucker, Ed Davis, and Morrow (or just stick with Ray Allen if he's truly coming back). Brings in 3&D guy, good rebounder, and 3 point shooting specialist, respectively, this summer. Those types of guys would be under the radar, but could really help re-tool the roster if they pan out (they tried w/ Beasely, why not those dudes).

If LBJ signs a 2-year max-type deal with opt-out next summer, that means he could take paycut next year to get a guy like Marc Gasol, no? Talk about being potentially stacked in 2015-2016:
Lowry-Wade-LBJ-Bosh-Gasol

EDIT: Nah, unless both Gasol & LBJ take fairly large paycuts, that's not happening. Pipe dream though

this is even worse than the original colluding. this is taking ring chasing to a whole new level

it wasnt nearly as bad before cause all of them were taking pay cuts.

but now its basically like wade and bosh are paying millions out of their own pocket to prop up lebrons legacy

theyre giving their own money to james instead of to the franchise since lebron is NOT taking a cut.. but getting a raise

LOL

they should just get it over with and buy knee pads for the amount of head theyre gonna be giving this year. cause they just became lebrons official groupies

Where did you read that?

Also with Gortat off the market and the Heat seemingly making no run at him, I dont know what to say.

Its obvious wade-bosh-LBJ spoke amongst themselves to play together and decided on Miami since the lack of income tax would offset the lower salaries to make it happen. In that time Riley hasnt drafted a really productive player and every veteran he brought in with the exception of Allen hasnt contributed at all.

Riley's plan was help execute the plan the Big 3 came up with and then hope veterans take the absolute minimum in the hopes of winning a ring.

Lets go after a PG in Lowry when we have LBj that can run point. Lets also not make a play for the only really good big man so that we can actually compete since the team is so old that our switching style of defense no longer works. Masterful.

Have you forgotten about Mike Miller in the 2012 finals? Drafting Norris Cole? Signing Birdman when literally no other team would touch him with a ten foot pole? Riley is doing just fine, I think the Heat will be in a very good position to contend when it's all said and done and that's coming from a non-Heat fan
