View Full Version : World Cup -- Quarterfinals: France vs Germany (July 4th 2014)
**** it. We'll beat the French despite our coach no matter what self sabotage formation we start with.

I think the French win. Not impressed by the Germans this year. They beat a weak Portugal team, drew Ghana and only beat a bad USA team 1-0. Then they go into extra time with Algeria.
4 CB at the back + no wingers is a bad combo and the Germans have never looked slower than this.
Meanwhile, the French attack is fluid and beautiful this year, + Pogba is a boss in midfield.
I dont care who advances, but I put my money on France.

France is winning this
The Jogi Loew bashing in Germany is escalating with more and more experts joining in. Andreas Koepke said that Phillip Lahm's position is being discussed internally. Hopefully the booger muncher caves in. 4-2-3-1 with actual full backs, Baby! Come on.

he played well against RM and anyway he is the last guy you want to blame for their CL exit.. its on the coach and team's key players which are vidal, tevez and pirlo.. pogba was just a guy who was basically a nobody 2 years ago and had a breakout season

Awesome press conference so far.
I think Loew is caving on to the pressure. He didn't stubbornly say Lahm will play in midfield like he did before. He said he played well at right back (duh) and we'll see tomorrow where he will play.
I think we will see him at right back tomorrow. Please, god. That will solve so many problems.

germans have an edge in GK ( lloris is quality though, easily top 10 GK in the world ) and in attack -muller-gotze-ozil are better than benzema-valbuena-giroud/griezmann

If it's not just gamesmanship the Germans have a bug and will die chasing around France's hyperactive midfielders. Pogba just needed some confidence now everything will move in slow-motion for him.

I have Germany going all the way
As much as I rate Toni Kroos, we need to dump him and play a real 10 in the middle. Either Oezil or Goetze. Either of them would excel there. Tired of seeing them played out of position without support from behind in the last few games and then getting bashed by people.
Lahm--Hummels--Boateng/Mertesacker--Durm/Boateng
-------Khedira--Schweinsteiger/Kroos
---Mueller-----Oezil-----Schurrle
-------------Goetze/Klose
Either Goetze or Klose would be fine with me at the 9 or "9". The people who say Goetze at the "9" doesn't work are wrong and take the games where it supposedly didn't work completely out of context (other experiments in the formation didn't work, etc.). We can play very sexy with Goetze as "9", IMO. Mueller and Schurrle can both shift into that position too during actual gameplay. It would make us unpredictable.

I'd drop Klose for Schurrle. I'd also drop Kroos and move either Goetze or Oezil to the 10.
Loew caved in to the pressure about Lahm. Can't say he's gotten any less idiotic though.

Why does Germany even bother playing until the Semis. It's automatic for these guys...
Low did a great job today, he had his mids stop the French mids from advancing. German fans keep hating on him but hey, here's the semis.
Ironic the french didn't wear white jerseys (surrender and all)
We could be so much better. Oezil on the left wing and Schurrle on the right wing. :lol If you play Oezil out of position at least play him on the right. WTH? I haven't seen anything from Kroos so far that justifies him playing at the 10.
Low did a great job today, he had his mids stop the French mids from advancing. German fans keep hating on him but hey, here's the semis.
The team is winning despite Loew. Playing Oezil on the left and Schurrle on the right is just completely nonsensical.
We could be much better. Could beat this French team by 3 goals without him sabotaging our offense.
It's not like Kroos is a defensive mastermind either. I see not advantage from playing him at the 10. Put Goetze or Oezil there and stop wasting them on the wing.
Loew got bailed out by the Hummels header. We weren't creating anything on offense until France opened up a little bit more and we got a couple counterattacks.
No Hummels header = Germany loses because of Jogi Loew, IMO

The way the game unfolded favoured Germany. They didn't do alotaside from parking the bus after the goal. They even stopped attacks in order to save possession. Their defense improved massively, though.
The french game didn't unfold. They went away from pushing the ball though the middle and Valbuena. With only Valbuena & Evra left to create and mostly trying to serve with crosses there was no chance. Deschamps reacted to late bringing the tall Giroud.
neuer is probably already the best GK of all time
People might laugh at this but I seriously don't remember seeing anyone who is or was better than him. He literally has no weaknesses and has revolutionized some aspects of being a goalkeeper.
I see it coming. Germany will play like shit every game but end up winning the WC just like in the old days.
Also I was extremely disappointed by the effort of the French. It seemed like they didn't care at all.

Was will man mehr?
Okay, okay.

Was will man mehr?
Please...There's no need to yell.
You know what Neuer's most badass action was today? His save on Varane's header. He made it look so easy. He didn't take an early jump (which most goal keepers do instinctively when they anticipate a good header. A little hop before taking off again) but his nerves of steel allowed him to just calmly stay on his feet not give a **** and simply hop over there and pick it up in the top corner without having to break a sweat or flying to barely save it and turn it into a corner. Of course, he also has the speed and athleticism to do that.

It's weird, but maybe he thought the point would come across better.

I know alot of Germans are bashing the formation and style of this current German squad but maybe it's what needed to win. Past few tourny's germany looked great and played the most exciting football but eventually crashed out to more defensive oriented teams.
As long as Germany isn't playing the anti-football lineup(Lahm-Khedira midfield, 4 CB's) they should be the favorites. Like it or not the defensive and disciplined teams win the World Cup. Plus Germany still has enough quality in the final third anyway. They could use a healthy Mario Gomez though

no, we couldnt.
Klose at this stage of his career is still better than Mario Gomez

Klose is better, but he can only effectively play 30 mins and Gomez is better up front than M
