Great hire. Hollins is a very good coach.

This is a good fit for the Nets. If they get a healthy Brook back Hollins will make good use of him.

The whole process was embarrassing and appalling, but you could make a very strong case that the Nets just upgraded at coach. Much more experience and a better fit for the roster.

BK just got a better coach and a second round pick (or 2?) for nothing.

Very quick hire. Did they interview anyone else or was it just Hollins?

It was all Hollins. They went through this process with him last year.

Excellent coach. No shenanigans. He's going to make good use of Lopez/KG. Good hire :applause:

Hearing it's for 4 mill a year.

Also, **** me this means the Lakers are probably hiring Byron Scott

It's A VC3!!!

I think as of a few months ago we have entered a new era where coaches are a actually getting paid good money and having longer contracts too. $4m a year for possibly 3 years is great for a coach.

I like him as a person/analyst/Laker legend...but his coaching is just mediocre. He's not something fresh and innovative. Just a "blah" hiring.

Happy for Hollins. Always remembered one of his interviews when he said "you can't have champagne taste on beer budget".

Not only does he have champagne budget, but champagne with vodka and billion rubles on the side

well, he's going to hate his job this upcoming year.

the year after he'll get some room to refresh up some ideas

he's really the head coach the year after that.

but he's probably gonna tell you
he's just happy to be working.

Great move. He got such a raw deal in Memphis. The Vets will respond much better to him.

The Nets have been flirting with this guy for awhile. They wanted him last year but the Grizzlies didn't give them permission. They of course then let him go.

Nice hire. I'd think this was a nice rebuilding move with the 2nd rounders and all, if Billy King hadn't given away all his 1sts already. Still, there's going to be a lot of resentment from Nets fans toward Kidd, rightfully so. Hollins is a good coach for vet-laden rosters. I think he got shafted in Memphis, that was a good fit too. Oh well.

I heard Byron Scott is the frontrunner, who I'm not too thrilled with. But maybe as long as the Lakers get a guy who actually values defense it'll be fine. Scott wasn't awesome for the Nets or Cavs, but as long as he isn't Scott Brooks in terms of Xs and Os...probably a net zero.

The NBA is not plug and play. As always nets fans expect no transition pains. What worked for the Nets, the small ball is not something he likes. We will see how it goes.

Give up Kidd, take back a 2nd rounder and Hollins?

Win for the Nets.

wtf Lakers. Who are we left with now?Byron Scott probably. He's a decent coach, hasn't really gotten an amazing roster yet. He did make the finals a few times in NJ, so the experience is there.

I'm not sure on the hire. They interviewed 1 person and were done. Same thing the Cavs did last year when they rehired Mike Brown. And that bit them in the ass.

Nets announce they have agreement with Lionel Hollins. Four-year deal in the $18 million range is what the sides were discussing today

The best coach for the right job. Congrats, Brooklyn. I wish Minnesota was this smart. We still keep re-living the past. I guess we will try to re-draft Kevin Garnett. But great hire for Brooklyn.

Yeah despite all the drama this should work out better for the Nets. If I'm a Nets fan, I'm happy.

He was Billy Kings first choice last year over guys like Shaw owners wanted Kidd. So they didn't really only interview one person it was just the guy they wanted all along.

He's isn't that good of a coach to change their prospects and that roster has a low ceiling with a questionable future.

Wish Hollins landed in a better situation.

Nets contacted Kevin Ollie first.
