Charlotte Hornets associate head coach Patrick Ewing will serve as head coach of the team's summer league squad.

Not bad...more experience for hopefully a chance at the big job one day.

I know but whether it be summer or regular season a HC spot for him is semi-bright i suppose? With being a assistant from 2002-Current.

I agree.

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that, some people are more suited and comfortable for an assistant position.

Yeah, a BAD one

There's a reason why he interviews for just about every single job that opens up and why NOBODY gives it to him.

He is a solid defensive guy. Not sure about his x's and o's philosophy. Does he want all his bigs making robotic post moves?

keeps getting AC spots so he cant be that bad being a coac since 02'. Looks like hte type of guy whod have a hard time communicating with the FO in an interview situation.

Heh.

But I wonder how Ewing feels about Kidd, Kerr and Fisher. Head coaches with no where near his experience.

There has to be a reason why no ones wanted him as HC so far.

Kidd Kerr and Fisher were all known to have some type of combination of a great basketball mind and/or stellar leadership throughout their careers. Ewing got the leadership but I really don't think he's any genius when it comes to orchestrating team play.

Great players may not see the game in team xs and os as well as role players because they are too wrapped up in their own individual abilities. Guys like Carlisle, Phil, Riley.. They were all average players physically but had great basketball minds and understood the game on a whole team level

I've never seen a guy so enamored over a coaching job.
Remember when Bill Russel was a coach , and died a cham-rock death :sleeping

that's like having to work while everyone is on vacation.

won't mean much, nor do I think him being a mini-dictator to start off any potential head coaching career for him would do him any good.

where's the picture of Melo sleeping in the background while Rose is going through a private work out?

I was on the plane with him a couple of months ago on a flight from Charlotte to NY. I was wondering if he had a home or family in Charlotte but I'm figuring now he was interviewing for the position
