Also liquid carbs get absorbed quicker (http://www.livestrong.com/article/504102-how-does-the-body-respond-to-liquid-carbs/)

Blood Sugar and Weight
The sugar derived from liquid carbs is rapidly absorbed into your bloodstream and causes your blood sugar level to rise quickly. Blood sugar spikes can be a problem if you have diabetes or metabolic syndrome. To deal with high blood sugar, your body responds by secreting insulin, which makes the extra sugar circulating in your blood enter your cells. If your cells have more sugar than they need, they will convert the extra sugar to fat and store it. Consuming a lot of liquid carbs can put your body in fat storage mode, preventing weight loss and causing weight gain.

Yes, it's very hard to cut out the soda (and even juice...even 100% apple juice has a lot of sugar) though.

Drinking just plain water all day is hard.

If anyone knows of good alternatives, let me know.

the only thing i've come up with is cutting a lemon in half and squeezing it into the water

i've been going thru this since it got super hot where i want to get a drink, but theres nothing to get because its all soda and sugared lemonade/ice tea anywhere you go. McDonalds has $1 large soda's and the least sugared drink i can get is light lemonade, which tastes like it has tons of Aspartin or something in it.

yeah i forgot they have unsweetened Ice Tea....maybe i'll start having that.

the light sweetened has that sugar substitute stuff that imo tastes sort of funky.

its just remarkable how there is barely anything you can get without tons of sugar for drinks outside of water.
