Via Marc Spears on twitter

According to sources that requested to remain anonymous, the terms agreed to is for one-year at the veteran’s minimum after meeting with team officials and touring the city recently. The speedy guard has a career average of 7.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists. The Portland Trail Blazers took the high school phenom No. 13 overall in the 2004 NBA Draft.

Reggie Jackson expressed a desire to be inserted into the starting lineup at the end of the Thunder’s 2014 playoff run, which could place Telfair in a natural backup point guard role.

Telfair, 29, played for the Tianjin Ronggang in China last season.

Reggie Jackson is gonna be the answer at the SG position? :facepalm

That means Westbrook is gonna be guarding the SGs

Unless Reggie does get moved to SG, then I don't see Telfair playing much.

Why was telfair out of the league again?? Was he not that good?? or injuries?

Don't get why this move is being bashed?

Telfair isn't a bad pick-up for third string point guard.

It really just depends on what their intentions are. If he's just on the minimum and a third string dude who won't play unless there's injuries, it's fine.

Even if he sees 10 minutes a night, I see nothing wrong with it. Bassy will come in, take care of the ball and drop a few dimes. He won't score, he won't defend, but will allow a breather for Russ.

Telfair has a very disappointing NBA Career. 10 years ago I thought he was going to be as good as his cousin Stephon Marbury.

Short point guards that can't run a team, or shoot usually don't last long in the league.

He will be fine as a third string point guard behind Russell Westbrook and Reggie Jackson, which is the same role that Derek Fisher had last season with them.

In fact over his last three NBA seasons, Sebastian Telfair has averaged: 6 ppg, 2 rpg, 3 apg, 39% fg, 34% 3PT, in 16 minutes.

Those are essentially the same numbers that Fisher provided over his last couple of seasons with them.

Great move. :applause:

Now if/we wrap up this Gasol drama, then we're looking GREAT going into the season. Wouldn't even expect any other moves after Gasol.

Westbrook/Telfair
Jackson/Lamb/Roberson
Durant/PJ3/Huestis
Ibaka/Collison/McGary
Gasol/Adams/Perkins

I'd still like to add a wing player. With this lineup we cant afford for any of our key guys to go down. I think we should sign VC or Matrix for cheap.

Perk will have to be gone to get Gasol tho.

Still, so excited. We have to lock down Gasol.

Telfair was actually pretty solid two years ago with Phoenix. I have no problem with this signing for a third PG.

Isn't there news that he'd be the backup pg though?

That the Thunder would start WB and Reggie...and then run Telfair and Lamb as the backups?

I still see this as a problem as you are looking at something at big minutes there. Last year in the playoffs Butler, Fisher, and Thabo combined for 55 minutes a game. Even if Reggie plays 8 more minutes a game...and I worry about that in some instances...that is still roughly 45 or so minutes to be made up.

Lamb will likely be good for 25 of those...at best. You really want to run with Telfair for 20 minutes a game? Now, if you add Mike Miller as well it helps and Jones will play more...but lineup issues arise with Durant out there so often with Jones, but I still see this as a bit of a problem going forward and you are going to ask Reggie and Westbrook to do a lot on both ends...and I worry about them wearing down.

I love how people in 2010 said in 2 years Thunder win the title
Then in 2012 they said in 2 years Thunder win the title...
And now in 2014, not too long ago, russwest said "In 2 years this team can win the title" :lol

russwest0

he will be the 3rd PG and mostly a bench warmer

the only thing that scares me is, does this affect how much we could have offered pau?

I was confident as hell that we were going to win the title in 2013 but then Beverley took westbrook out

This totally takes care of 3rd string PG. Now how about some more pressing needs?

OKC badly needs a 3&D SG now that Thabo lost his game. And what about a big that can score inside? You are not getting Gasol without amnestying Perkins, have no illusions about that.
