He's opted out now. They should just not re-sign him. LeBron and Bosh are the two they should keep and build around them.

Do you want to be seen as an organization that gets rid of players who gave them their entire careers?

Yes. If they get rid of Wade, they can really rebuild around Bosh and LeBron. Get a real Center, a decent 2 guard and a better point guard.

Exactly they are too sentimental and not committed to winning.

Lakers and Celtics who obviously shit on the Heat have proven they can make big boy makes if it meant the good of the franchise.

Riley is just a bitch.

That'll actually be a smart move on paper. Too bad they have to pitch that whole 'loyalty' thing to keep LeBron around.

i would tell Wade to sign for 8 million a year or GTFO:confusedshrug:

They won't, loyalty and all.

But, pretty sure Melo would fly down to South Beach and ask 'where do I sign' if that happened.

But he is a top 5 player and part of the most stacked team of all time.

Didn't a recent report say he's looking for 55-60 mil over 4 years? Dude has lost it completely if he thinks he's getting that.

Believe it or not, but loyalty and family are the most important parts of being a Heat player. They sell this to every FA and they do a good of keeping true to this. That's why many ex-Heat players still love the organization even when they go to another team and have more success. They hire past coaches and executives all associated with the Heat. There's a reason why Miami is a first class organization. It tarnishes your legacy if you just get rid of the player who helped make Miami the franchise it is today.

It seems your rep as a GM would not be too different from the one you have as a poster

It's also a business. How many teams keep the same roster forever? Nobody. You keep a core and build around them. And neither Miller or Joel are on the level of Wade.

They will be a gutter organization if they pull something like that. Neither LBJ nor Bosh would sign with them.

It's also a business. You can only do so much. And neither Miller or Joel are on the level of Wade.
Of course it is, and you exaggerated in your previous post about 'loyalty' and 'family'. Or is it only for the best players and the role players can just fvck off? What kind of loyalty is that then?

lol at people acting like he has no value. If a guy like Stephenson is gonna get 10+ then Wade is worth at least like 12+ on a short term deal.

No. Miami is very big on this. A lot of their management and coaches all have a history with Miami. I wasn't exaggerating. They like to keep it within the organization, but you also have to make moves for money and to improve the team. But not when it comes to simply getting rid of your franchise player in Wade.

If you view Wade as an investment, then Miami owes him that just in INTEREST based on the dividends he's paid out since 2003. Even if he never plays another game.

Can't wait till all the LeBron fans who can't grasp that the Heat have a history that predates 2010 follow him to his next team.

When James Harden/ Derrick Rose/ Kyrie Irving becomes yet another player whose impact dwindles beside James, I wonder if they (not to mention the media) will finally acknowledge what the denominator is that was also common in the fading of Wade/ Bosh and Larry Hughes, or will they just cry that he still needs more help?

None of you can see the point here. He was contractually owed about $43mm. He needs to get that no matter what, or else why opt out right? The whole point if him opting out was not to lower how much in total the heat would pay him, but to lower his per year salary to sign other players. Wade is willing to stretch out his years with a little extra thrown on top so the heat can be contenders in the immediate term.

Wade isn't really a free agent as a result. The heat owe him $43mm, on principle, one way or the other. He obviously has a handshake deal with riles or he would have never opted out.

Wade retires in a Heat jersey.

LeBron don't like it? Go play with Melo somewhere else.

But Wade retires in Miami and gets a statue outside of AAA.

He must have some info on the owners apparent connection to Sterling, otherwise I'm sure they'd take the hit on their cap by simply paying him his money for an extra spot on the roster. We all know Bruce Bowen could come back and replace D Grade.

yea my choice is NOT.

That being said, it's a smart long-term investment. They can't get rid of Wade. The only way they could get rid of Wade is if he asked for an amount of money that even the fans knew was ridic and didn't budge.

But I don't think they are loyal as much as feigning loyalty. But any player who stuck with a team throughout his whole career deserves loyalty or a chance to be traded to a good team (if his team sucks his whole career.) Most players don't... I think most of the time when a good player sticks with a team for 10+ years they don't 'get rid' of them. Heat or not, cuz it's bad biz.

Cuz he's OG Heat. You gonn'a get rid of OG?

Lots of OG was released by their original team:

Jordan (yes, even the GOAT!)
Hakeem
Ewing

...to name a few. No point in keeping Wade when you know there are better players.
