View Full Version : Bigger gap between Bron and KD or KD and #3 in the league?
SHABBA

Presumably 99% of people on here have Bron and KD as their #1 and #2 in the league.
Is the gap between 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 bigger? :coleman:
Personally I have the gap between Bron and KD as bigger than the gap between KD and Paul George.

The fact that you said "#3" instead of an actual player's name says enough.

Seeing as Westbrook was better than Durant in the playoffs, by a good margin, I'm going to say between 1&2.

Except, you know, it wasn't by a "good margin". Westbrook was really, really good in the playoffs and he is undoubtedly the straw that stirs the drink on the team, but him playing 1,700 fewer minutes (about 3,100 for KD and 1,400 for Russ) than Durant in the regular season and missing 36 games might've had something to do with that.
Anyway, the answer is between #2 and #3. When you can't even name a consensus third best player in the league, and every acknowledges LeBron and Durant are #1 and #2, then the answer is between #2 and #3.

I agree, LeBron, Durant Then ???? so many dudes you can put in there, Westbrook, CP3,Blake, Melo
KD and #3, because i dont even know who the 3rd best player is at this moment really.... you could even put Russell Westbrook there and i would be fine... i guess...

Nah not really. Its a tossup between a handful players really.
Just to think Rose could be top 3 if healthy.
I'd say Melo, Westbrooke, Griffin would be in the mix for the 3 spot...arguably of course.

Durant last season was a better rebounder, scorer, and defender than LeBron and LeBron was simply a better passer even though his assists dropped a bit from his normal numbers while his turnovers did not.

There's definitely a bigger gap between #2 and #3. There's really not a big gap at all between LeBron and Kevin Durant.

Durant has never even been a decent rebounder let alone close to Lebron. He is flat out terrible at crashing the boards, and one of the worst I've seen at boxing out.
For as great a player as he is, he absolutely has some of the worst off the ball instincts in the league, particularly on defense. If he isn't guarding someone with the ball he looks lost.

You can't be serious. Guy puts up 32-7-6 on 60%+ TS while leading his team to 59 wins in a brutal conference despite not having his All-Star sidekick for essentially half the season, and also just finished up a 5-season stretch averaging 29-8-4-1-1 on 49/38/89 shooting on a perennial contender, and he's not a superstar?

lol didn't LeBron only have like 1 offensive rebound before the ECF or some shit this year. Durant alone has had multiple playoff performances where he goes for like 40 points and 14 rebounds. He's done it vs the Grizzlies, Clippers, and Rockets.
yet again LeBron getting overrated as hell in an area the instant the stats don't support the hype

He'll probably just say some BS about the refs making him a superstar.
Anyway the answer is easily the gap between KD and the 3rd best player.

He's usually just an irrational, over the top Ibaka hater, but apparently it's trickling down to Durant now? How anyone with a sane mind can essentially label Durant as just a "very good All-Star", and not a superstar, is beyond me.

I say that cause imo you could put Lebron on ANY team and he makes them a semi contender I can't say the same for any other player. Therefore LeBron is the only true superstar.

If that's your definition of a superstar, fine. By most other people's definition Durant is, without question, a superstar. And, even by your own definition, Durant is a superstar to some extent.

Being as good as LeBron isn't the threshold for a superstar. That's insane. Prime Kobe didn't make the Lakers a contender in 06,07 does that mean he isn't a superstar? Same for Wade 08-10

I agree. This version of LeBron, who is basically at his peak right now, is one of the 5 best players ever in my opinion. I think he's peaked that high...at least top 7 (Jordan, Shaq, Wilt, Kareem, Russell, Hakeem, and LeBron).
I also don't think you could place LeBron on "any" team and make them semi-contenders. For instance, you put LeBron on the 76ers or Bucks this year and, at the absolute best, they're a lower-seeded playoff team even in the East in my opinion. I think there are plenty of fringe playoff teams/fringe contenders you could've put LeBron or Durant on this year and they become semi-contenders and/or contenders. They become stronger contenders with LeBron instead of Durant in my opinion, but using LeBron as a the measuring stick for what defines a superstar eliminates a lot of players throughout NBA history as being a superstar.

Uhhh #3 is either Paul or Westbrook and both of them have more impact than Durant outside of scoring. Both better passers and defenders, and neither of them get pushed around as much by smaller matchups.
Lebron is better than Durant at everything outside of pure shooting, James is even a more efficient scorer. On the other hand Durant is better than CP3/Russ in only scoring/shooting.
Lebron is the only real superstar in the league. Comparing him to Durant is disrespectful, this goes beyond stats and accolades. The gap is much bigger than mere numbers suggest.
