Texas has no state tax right ?

So in NY Melo's 26 million per year minus taxes would be around 15-17 mill I guess.

No. State income tax is negligible compared to the federal, which everyone pays.

I don't think Dallas had the ability to offer a max considering Dirk had to be re-signed.

If the Mavs were in the East I'd jump all over that shit if I was Melo. Unfortunately the West is just too much of a battle zone

I think this is about the max Dallas can offer right?

so long Melo.

when did Cuban turn into a cheapstake?

He's been trying to replace players making a lot of money with BETTER players making MORE money

Tried to replace Kidd's $9 mil with D Will at $18 mil

Tried to replace Chandler $12 mil with Dwight $18 mil

Just replaced Dalembert $3 mil with Chandler at $15 mil

Trying now to replace Marion $9 mil with Melo at $17.75

Please tell me how this is being a "cheapskate"?

Offering dudes well below market value every year is the very definition of being a cheapskate.

He's not being a cheap owner but if he thinks Melo takes so much less money to join a non-contender he's a bit deluded.

I'm surprised Cuban doesn't catch more flack for breaking up a title team and turning into a cheapskate.

Dude is all about the money now.

LMAO @ offering less than the max to Melo.

Rick Casilsle is the best coach that Melo can get, with the teams he's considering for free agency. Thibs is a close second

Cuban's paid the lux tax nearly every year he's been owner of the Mavs. Last thing I'd call him is a cheapskate.

The teams Melo has visited

Houston- Kevin Mchale-awful coach
Knicks-First year coach
Lakers-Dont even have a coach
Mavs/Bulls-Two of the top 4 coaches in the game

Yeah Cuban is cheap, and loves to flip his teams every other season (revolving door). But Melo's a freaking multi millionaire anyways! Unless there's some tension between Chandler and Felton I don't know about, a Dirk-Carmelo-Chandler combo could be very solid if they can commit to defense like in 2010-2011. Do it Melo!

Nowitzki is a marvel to still be a major scorer at his age but at 36 he's not a good bet to a great player much longer. They're not beating OKC or the Spurs. They'd be on par with the Warriors and Clippers buyt trending downwards due to Nowitzki's age. If he goes west with the dual priorities of money and winning I don't see who he takes over Houston. He's either going to stay put, go to Houston or go to Chicago. Dallas is trailing badly in both money as well as talent. Going there doesn't make a lot of sense.

This is a very stupid move by Dallas. You already have Monta. I understand it's a long term move in mind but you already have a well constructed team as is, and a guy like Parsons or Deng is what Dallas needs, not Melo.

It's not a terrible offer at all.

No. State income tax is negligible compared to the federal, which everyone pays.

Also only applies to half the games since you pay the local tax when you go on the road.

A lower offer than what Bulls would of offered? Is that possible? :oldlol:

Two very good role-players (borderline All-Stars) can be signed for that kind of money. That's what Mavs' priority should be.

Well I guess Melo can scratch Dallas off the list. Don't think he's going there now since he's got monster offers from Knicks and Lakers.

Not that I agree, but didn't this year's Mavs take the champion Spurs to 7 games (with 2 of their losses that could've gone the other way)... the same Spurs that utterly destroyed the Heat in the Finals, and is being portrayed as one of the greatest offensive teams of all time? Didn't they accomplish that despite Dirk not shooting well?

Yes, the Spurs peaked late, but the Mavs aren't some bums. Those Mavs with Melo and Chandler would be a dangerous team.
