If there was a draft in which GMs can select any player NBA history at their peak Kobe wouldn't go in the top 10. However, he has a top 5 resume which is what makes him a top 10 GOAT if equal weight is given to Peak and resume/longevity.

How do you define peak? Kobe has few greatest single seasons ever

His peak is top 15 ever and he one of the longest primes in history AND GOAT level longevity for a perimeter player. That's why he's easily top 10 ever.

Translation - "FG% is the only thing that matters when determining the greatness of a player."

You're right, though...Kobe has a top 5 peak, not a top 10.

His peak is really good from a longetivity standpoint. Had amazing seasons in 2001,2002, 2003, had some off-court trouble and knee + shoulder surgery in 04, amazing 06 seasons, another knee surgery and was amazing from 07-11.

From a one season standpoint, his peak IMO is not top 5, but if you look at how long he managed to sustain that level, he definitely is top 5.

Regardless, he is top 5 all time.

I keep hearing about kobes peak not being good

But he was 1st team all nba on both ends. Averaged 35ppg. Had months of 40ppg. 4 straight 50 point games. 62 in three quarters outscoring a team by himself. 81 in a game. 55 in a half. The 2nd most 60 point games ever. And dragged the worst team in nba history to the playoffs nearly knocking off a 1st seed

I only know of maybe 2 other guys in nba history that could come close to as good as kobe was during his peak

His peak is putting up empty stats on a team that got owned by Steve Nash...twice in the first round. No wonder he only has one MVP.

Nope, his third best teammate was Odom, who averaged 12/9/2 on .587 TS%.

Players have won with much worse players as their second best teammate

Kobe peak top 10ish or so. I have ranked 7th or 8 as far as peaks go. I have no problem with anyone that says top 15.

All had better peaks without a doubt. Then you have like 10 more players that are debatable.

03 Duncan had 2 guys scoring more..

First of all, Parker shot .468 TS% in the Playoffs and Jackson was .529. Compare to that Pau and Odom who shot .622 TS% and .587 and it's easy to see that Kobe's second/third options were far better, on both ends of the floor. That's not even debatable.

*Third best player. I said Kobe's second best teammate.

But anyway:

Bosh in 2013: 12.1 PPG on .524 TS%
Marion in 2011: 11.9 PPG on .509 TS%
Walker in 2006: 13.3 PPG on .500 TS%

Those are just a few in recent years. I didn't want to post more in case you simply confused my post.
