In n Out is definitely top 5 in my list of most overrated things to ever exist in the history of mankind. Everytime i see the ridiculously long drive thru lines im astounded by how much people like it. The Burgers are nothing special and the fries taste like stale chips.

To be honest, it isn't fair to compare In N Out to Red Robin.
In N Out has a limited menu and more of a 1950s Soda Fountain vibe.
Red Robin served gourmet burgers. While one can get an excellent hamburger at In N Out.
I doubt they could request and receive a quality medium rare burger for $3.50.

I've been to both Five Guys and In n Out, and frankly, neither one impressed me. Five Guys seems way overpriced, and I do not need forty pounds of french fries to to with my burger. In n Out was just another fast food burger, and the fries were bad. To be fair, I have had friends visiting from California, and they say In n Out burgers on the west coast taste much better than the ones we get here in Texas. Whataburger is my preferred fast food burger.

Ironically the reason their fries suck is because they are too fresh and simple.

In-n-out takes whole potatoes, slices em into fries, then tosses those the fryer and serves them as they come out.

In order to make a truly great fry, you need to first give the fries a good long soak/rinse after slicing (to wash off as much starch as possible), and then you need to give them a double fry. Most fast food restaurants double fry their fries with an initial fry in the factory, then freezing and shipping them to their restaurants where they are given their second fry prior to serving.

It is good, in the FF world. Fresh ingredients prepared after you order. Other FF is generally awful.
It’s food like all restaurant food used to be made.
