derrick rose 1 season mvp = shaq, kobe, oscar, hakeem?
allen iverson 1 season mvp = shaq, kobe, oscar, hakeem?
its about number of rings by mvp caliber players ( with obvious discounts given to 60's players )
if a guy has won atleast 1 mvp... then if hes winning titles.. he must be doing something
i don't trust the media. but everyone who deserves atleast 1 mvp has atleast 1 mvp asside from maybe jerry west.
so # of rings by mvps = the best measuring stick
( anyones rings from the 60's = half value )

EXACTLY. It's not even close, Shaq was so far more dominant than any other player, it's sad how people try to rewrite history. The Lakers won a title and then Phil tried to TRADE KOBE even after winning a title.
Prime Shaq with Phil and all those role players could have won at least one ring if you took Kobe away and replaced him with Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse. Players of that level.

Hes a washed has been who should only have 2 rings if it were not for Shaq. He needed the most stacked team of all time to barely beat the Celtics in 2010.
History will show he is the mos overrated player of all time.
contradiction
you value rings as the measurment of greatness by saying "i dont hate kobe now that he cant win rings and threaten legacies."
but then you mention "LEBRON"?
so you were scared of kobe when he was winning championships. and he was threatening to you because of winning championships
so you value championships and it is the main thing you are afraid of
then say kobe cant catch ...............................lebron ?

if players were only measured by their peaks... tracy mcgrady would be a top 10 player all time
kobe had the better career.
people change their criteria for ranking players to fit their agenda
think about this... if it was a shaq, wilt, oscar, baylor vs jordan debate
it would automatically turn into a career resume contest
since absolute peak shaq, wilt, oscar, baylor were more impressive than jordan
so that cant possibly be what people will compare
BUT... since kobe has a better career than shaq... now it becomes a peak debate. they rank players all time on 1 season
yeah OK

Lol so Kobe can't win a title without Shaq. Except he actually lead two title teams without him. Shaq could have won without Kobe, yet his whole career he was only able to coat-tail one title without him. Like someone said, Shaq has played with some great players over his career including LeBron, Nash, Penny, Eddy Jones, Nick Van Excel and Wade, yet he was only able to win once without Kobe.
If they gave out playoff MVP's rather than finals MVP Kobe would have taken a couple away from Shaq. Kobe carried those teams in the real finals in the western conference while Shaq sat on his butt because of foul trouble or because he couldn't shoot free throws. Of course he won the finals MVP when they finally feasted on the weak Eastern conference teams. Larry Brown in the year the Pistons beat the Lakers said after studying the Lakers they realized that you beat them by focusing on Kobe, because they realized that letting shaq go off didn't lead to wins for the Lakers.

Kobe was the X Factor ?!?!?
Shaq was the most dominant player of all time, Kobe needed Shaq, he couldn't have done it with anyone else....
While for Kobe, replace him with another top 5, maybe even 10 player, and Shaq still wins those rings... smfh
ESPECIALLY in 2000 and 2001... Both years you can replace Kobe with a top 10 guy and they still win.
2000 Kobe was top 10 himself, missed 2 of the 6 finals games, averaged 16 ppg on 36%, can be replaced...
WCF? Mediocre series, big game 7... Can be replaced, as well... Someone might just cut that game 7 a little earlier and then the Lakers win in 5 or 6.
2001 was Kobe's best, but the margin for error was huge, they still win with any other top 10 guy...
2002? I have no worries beating the Kings or Nets, as Kobe sucked in the WCF vs Kings, and the Nets are one of the weakest finals teams ever... Only the WCSF against the Spurs would be close, as Kobe closed out both road wins and probably outplayed Shaq throughout the series.

All this "WCF Kobe dominated the real teams!!!" talk, when he was VERY mediocre in both 2000 and 2002... Nothing special at all.
Shaq was a beast all 3 WCF's, outplaying Kobe by a WIDE MARGIN in 2000 and 2002, but ohhhh, because Kobe finally has a great WCF in 2001 as well, now right up there with Shaq, it's "Kobe dominated the REAL FINALS in the WCF where Shaq didn't do shit!!"
And even in 2001 you can still argue between who was the man...
Kobe: 33/7/7 on 51%
Shaq: 27/13/3 on 54% as main offensive AND DEFENSIVE anchor, WHILE matching up with the twin towers of Robinson/Duncan on both ends...
Players lived off of the attention Shaq got, extra space.

Kobe would take a paycut if he was sure about it, IMO he's not, and he's smart to not be sure, if a b!tch has already threatened divorce twice and gone to the brink of doing so, from now until forever is a long time.
She can take half when ever she wants, Kobe knows it, so he had to take a max contract to cover himself in case that ever happen in the next 10, 20, 30 years.
His current contract that basically cripples the Lakers is an "I need to cover my ass in case of a divorce someday" contract on Kobe's part.
Who's to say in 10-15 years, Kobe himself won't want a younger, better looking piece of ass either.
I don't get this, we know Kobe wouldn't not have won during those times without Shaq and that Shaq was the main reason they won.
But, we also know Kobe won 2 without Shaq.
Basically, Kobe got to spend his early years with the prime force of nature that is Shaq and when Shaq got older Kobe showed that he could win in his prime too.
