"Here i'am on Independence Day sitting amongst the ruins of a slave hospital in the south and just reflecting on how life was for my ancestors and it makes me ashamed to complain about anything that's happened in my life today.. There was no opting in or opting out of slavery. Puts my life and all our lives into perceptive... #Freedom #Liveyourlife"

So before this he had no perspective and was complaining on how playing for the Heat felt like slavery. He's free.
no pun intended

"We enjoy the bullseye. Plus, there's going to be times when we lose 2-3 games in a row, and it seems like the world has crashed down. You all are going to make it seem like the World Trade is coming down again, but it's not going to be nothing but a couple basketball games."

We're human and a lot of people do things like this. We take things for granted. All Wade is saying is that he's been lost in all that. He's been lost in the money, the celebrity-ism, the lights, and when it comes down to it this world has came a long way and still has a long way to go.
In a nutshell, we complain about the most petty things sometimes when things could be so much worse.

Sometimes you encounter things, landmarks, experiences, or people in life that force you to reflect and see things in a reflective light. I don't see what the beef is here. One of the few times I actually don't wanna slap him...

There's no way he actually wrote this, and slavery in America is only a very tiny sliver of the amount of worldwide slavery at the time.

Not a Wade fan but this is stupid. All he's saying is that after thinking about the horrors of slavery that he should be grateful and consider his current problems to not be a big deal.
It would be like a guy saying his sprained ankle doesn't feel so bad after visiting his friend who has terminal cancer. There's nothing wrong with it since it's not like we spend our whole lives in grateful glee because we consider all the worst case scenarios in life.

yeah, but otoh if you actively realize this at age 30(?) on July 4th, something is wrong.
Or he could just be sayin' it.

You people are idiots. He in no way said his situation was like slavery. He actually said he was blessed to have a situation that is the direct opposite of slavery.

Why does he feel the need to share every single thought that pops into his head? And there's absolutely nothing wrong with what he said. You people either need to learn to read or get out of your basements.

This
Therefore he did not compare playing for the Heat with slavery. He contrasted playing for the Heat with slavery (i.e. Expressed how completely DIFFERENT his life is to his ancestors' who endured slavery.)

it's called being a sheep.
The OP told them Wade was comparing playing ball to being a slave in the thread title and not one of those idiots bashing Wade realized they were being trolled or even bothered to actually read what Wade.
