What is comeuppance?

You must be the kind of guy that writes 'should of' instead of 'should have'

If this was all planned out the big 3 would have opted out at the same time and be signed to new deals quickly afterwards so new FA's could be gone after.

Lebron will probably stay, but to call this all part of some grand scheme is pretty dumb.

It was planned out but it was planned out by Lebron's people alone. The hotel meeting was supposed to be the lets all resign right now together opportunity and instead Lebron told them nothing about his plans. He is trying to panic them into taking much lower deals without his guarantee while he takes more and has the option of leaving them high and dry. Lebron has a 20m cap hold and will only take a max contract he could sign right now and resolve all this without affecting their space.

this. There is no gain by dragging this out. Even assuming they planed to get Melo, then just re-sign and make the hard push. Other role player FAs are being snatched up on a daily basis and the situation is only getting worse. There is no benefit for MIA to wait this long to unveil any master plan. Other teams have not gutted their rosters for MIA.

Even if it was for pure attention sakes, the Heat are not getting the kind of attention they want. THere's uncertainty, speculation and rumours about the big three leaving.
