View Full Version : Report: Pacers quietly shopping Hibbert

Hey Yo
07-06-2014, 05:38 PM
After a mostly disastrous postseason in which Roy Hibbert had two games where he didn't score a point or grab a rebound, the Indiana Pacers have begun the process of "quietly" shopping their big man in potential trades, according to a report Sunday afternoon from Sean Deveney of Sporting News.

The 27-year-old -- an All-Star in 2012 and again last season -- is due $14.8 million next year but according to a front office executive cited in Deveney's report, the Pacers are looking for someone to take Hibbert even though he also has a player option for $15.5 million in 2015-16. Hibbert averaged a paltry 9.3 points and 5.5 rebounds this postseason.

One potential destination for Hibbert is Portland, which Deveney said has been "intermittently linked" to the big man. Portland would likely have to undergo significant restructuring to make the deal work and a source quoted in the report said a potential Pacers-Trail Blazers deal involving Hibbert is "unlikely."

He has a player option at 15.5mil for the 2015-16 season and a UFA the following season.

Trade would probably include Waiters or Varejao or both and a first round pick.

wouldn't give up Waiters and need Varejao to teach him how to hustle. They can have Jack, 1st round pick, and a rookie not named Wiggins or take Felix

Who is going to pay Hibbert 30m over the next two years? Nobody.

Nobody wants him, nobody needs him. Asik can be had for about 8m a year, and he is twice the C that Hibbert is.

Sorry Roy, your career will soon be over. Better be saving now.

Are you kidding he'll probably end up putting together a good season in his contract year half by accident and end up getting another max :oldlol:

Blazers have 0 reason to consider this still. I'm sure Indy reached out to Portland since Portland wanted him desperately in the past, but now the Blazers have 2 centers on better contracts. I wouldn't mind him if he were cheap, but he became the most overpaid player in the league last season.

Does Hibbert have aspirations of being a career assistant when he retires?

It's funny to me that everyone thinks Hibbert is trash and not nearly worth his contract....

But at the same time all rail on Cuban for not paying Chandler the exact same contract.

And Chandler is 4 years older.

:lol

Hibbert will get back to playing well next season no matter where he lands, he was clearly having some issues that we don't know about, he just needs the right tutor to bring out the potential in him.

Woudn't work. Might as well not even discuss it since that's not realistic.

He would probably be Hibbert vs the Heat in every game if he were on the Spurs. Splitter + whatever "good" piece because of Pop.

no pun intended

The Pacers should consider trading him for Steve Nash.

Edit: Shit didn't know Hibbert was that overpaid lmao

I know...it would be epic.

Really too bad Kobe took that contract. If he took the Dirk/Duncan 10 million cut the Lakers probably could have done enough to land Melo and another max type player. Because they could have brought Gasol back as well.

God how fun would it be to watch Kobe, Melo, and Lebron on the same team....in LA as well.

:bowdown::bowdown:

I really think last year was an aberration concerning hibbert's play. Locker room trouble can have a huge impact on a player's performance, ie LeBron in 2010 Boston series. The difference is Hibbert have up much earlier in the season. A player doesn't go from an all star to complete scrub that quickly, barring major injury.

I say he turns into all star hibbert again the minute he lands on another team.
